Galt New Baby Puzzles
Advantages: Good puzzle for younger toddlers
Disadvantages: Too simple for the 2+ toddlers
I got these puzzles for my eldest son when he was around 15 months old, as they only have 2 pieces per puzzle I felt that it would be a nice easy way to get him started with the idea of puzzles without being frustrating for him.
Like most toddler boys he had a fascination with transport so the theme got his attention straight away, and he used to play with this a lot. It was just right for his age and he was able to do it by himself rather than a more difficult puzzle which would have needed a lot of adult input for a young toddler to complete.
I would not really recommend this for a child aged 2+ as they are likely to be beyond this simple stage so I would say it is great from age 1-2 years. I believe the box recommends from 18 months+, but a couple of months younger should be fine however if your child is still at the stage of putting things in their mouth a lot then be warned that if the pieces are excessively put into the mouth they can become a bit soggy and the quality and pictures will be slightly impaired, which did happen to ours due to baby siblings but it is still in useable condition, the baby did not manage to completely destroy it!
As my son became a bit older and able to do slightly bigger puzzles he lost interest in this, so I would not say it is something they will keep coming back to over a long period of time but I don't think that was too unexpected. It basically does the job of introducing them to simple puzzles and then they will move on from it, but I have used it again with my 2nd son and may well get it out again for my 3rd so we have definitely got the value out of it and I find Galt toys generally are reasonably priced and good value for money.
The quality of these is good, the pieces are made from thick durable cardboard with a shinyish texture and the pictures are cartoony and very nice and bright.
Overall I would recommend for young toddlers. There are other options available too like animals, if your child's interests are more in that direction
Summary: Very simple so great first puzzles to introduce them to the concept
