Tangled is Disney's take on the famous German fairy tail Rapunzel and we have it in book form for the Tag reader that we bought my little girl for Christmas this year. The Leapfrog Tag reading system is basically a talking "pen" that has special books that you load onto it and it helps young kids learn to read books and also enjoy books by themselves. Leapfrog tell you a bit more about it in the front page of the book. They say, "The Tag system includes activities that help children think about story events, characters and themes in order to build reading comprehension skills. Tag focuses on core phonics, word recognition and vocabulary skills based on teaching methods designed to help a child learn to read. It's all wrapped up in fun, engaging stories and high-interest topics to enthrall your child. That's the magic of Tag - it makes learning fun!
We thought she would like this one as she loves Disney and also likes books about Princesses and this one does not disappoint. The story of Rapunzel is this book goes as such, "Once upon a time a princess named Rapunzel was born. Rapunzel was a very special girl whose magical hair had the power to heal the sick and injured, and could keep people from growing old." The Rapunzel in this book has gorgeous long golden hair and beautiful green piercing eyes. Unfortunately Rapunzel is imprisoned by Mother Gothel and it takes an adventure with Flynn Rider, a young thief on the run to finally free her.
There are various ways in which you can utilise this book. You can use the reader to read the whole story for you by just pressing it onto the symbol on the first page that says, "read the story."Just like with the other books she has with this Tag reader, my little girl likes this option as she is only three and doesn't use the reader to its full potential yet so she likes to hear the story fully. It is read is a nice calm female voice with different voices obviously for the different characters. You can also just have the reader read a page at a time which is good as there are different things to do on each page like games and hear different sounds. In this book what I like is that it asks you a lot of questions about the book, like, "What do you remember about the story so far?" and then there are yes and no buttons you can press with the reader when it asks you different questions. I think this is a good way for kids to remember the book and be a part of the story.
In true Disney fashion in the end, "they all lived happily ever after." I don't really have a problem with books like these, I know some paretns don't like to read it to their kids because that's not what real life is about, you don't meet a prince and live happily ever after but I think my little girl is wise enough to know its a story and hey, who knows, maybe she will live happily ever after in whatever she chooses to do with her life, for now, all I know is that she likes to read this book and we would recommend it to you!
I recently got this for my daughter who has just turned 5. She is loving this book so far. On each page there is a game where you will be asked questions to show you really are paying attention to the story (Or have watched the movie!) It is helping my daughter to recognise words and she is enjoying every second of it! My only criticism is the voice over... slightly annoying, some kind of speech impediment which is fine except its meant to be the voice of Rapunzel and doesnt sound anything like her. But thats just my point of view, my daughter is very happy with it. I am yet to come across a leapfrog tag book that i wouldnt recommend to be honest. They really are great. My daughter reads them every night with her tag reader, but sometimes will just come to me with the book to read her a story. Worth every penny
Bring the story of Rapunzel to life with the Leapfrog Tag Disney Tangled Book . Use your Tag reader to read about Rapunzel and Flynn's hair-raising adventure, and help them untangle the truth about Rapunzel's past. As you're reading the story, there are learning activities for you to play that to help build vocabulary and reading comprehension skills.
