This toy have been rechristened 'the ultra annoying apple' in our house because I hate it, even visitors hate it. It never shuts up.
Many baby toys are noisy and vTech toys are generally worse but this one is especially obnoxious. It it constantly singing and talking. The most annoying thing about it is how long it goes on for after the child last pressed a button. Despite the fact the child has moved on to play with other things it continues to chatter and try and entice them to play again. Also the batteries never ever seem to run out, all his other toys they are running out constantly but this one just keeps going.
The fact it hasn't ended up in the charity shop yet means there are good features. It has a sections of games including letters, spellings and animal games. There is a dial you can slide to choose a play option. The buttons are large and easy to use, each has a picture of a letter and an animal on.
The main reason we still have it is my son loves it, he got it for Christmas when he was eight months old and it still enjoying it now at age three and a half. His favourite features are the animal games, he loves to find the animals. He has even learn some spellings playing with it.
So I would recommend it with caution, ensure you have a very high tolerance before choosing this toy.
Another VTEC product that has made its way into my home.I have to say, I really admire this company on a whole and feel all of the products I have bought from them are fantastic.Up until recently, before I started doing these reveiws, I had no idea that 8 out of 10 of my toys that have been puchased within the last 4 years, have been made by VTEC. And I can see more puchases being bought with them in mind in the future.
I remember buying this online from Debenhams around a year/18 months ago for my son who would have been around the 18month/2 year age at the time.It was on a special offer and around the £10.00 mark.
The overall layout and look is simple but effective. Its in a shape of an apple, which is very cute. The main colour is red. Theres a simple On/Off button at the top, clearly marked. On the left hand side of the toy, there are 8 different functions that you can put the toy in:Music, Question Time, Clock Quiz, Find It, Spelling Fun, Fun Facts, ABC It and Super Sounds. You can change which function you want it to be in by sliding a super fun shaped worm up or down.
In the main area of the toy is has white easy to push buttons on it. Each button has a letter of the alphabet on it with a picture of an animal whose name starts with that letter, and also the name of the animal in writing is on it also. Each button is shaped as an apple, good size for growing fingers and hands and less boring and predictable than just being circular. These buttons light up when pressed. And dependingon what setting you have put it on, the button will play music, pronounce a sound, animal name etc.
In the top right hand corner you have a clock, where you can move the main hand. When you move the hand it will tell you what the time is.
It has a handy carry handle so easy for child to move from a to b.
This toy is so varied and has so many educational and fun aspects to it:It can help children learn the folowing:
1. How to pronounce sounds
4. Fun facts on animals
1. Visually stimulating thanks to the lights and physical look of the toy
2. Helps with listening and to develop communication
3. Stimulating and fun to listen to thanks to the music elements
I love this toy because its one of those toys both of my children can use, enjoy and learn from despite them being two different ages and learning different things. This is one of those toys that can last, in regards to learning, for a good couple of years as what its teaching is relevant from young to maybe around 4-5 years old if not alittle longer. Its also a strong, well built item that is tactle and not easily broken.
One of my best VTEC buys!
