Grobag Egg
by BexCam1
The Grobag Egg is an egg shaped colour changing room thermometer.
I got one when my son was born so I could keep an eye on the temperature of his room, I found it especially useful as I am rubbish at judging the temperature, and was actually quite surprised how cool his room felt to me when it was at the recommended ... temperature.
The egg is very easy to use, just plug it in and it's ready to go!
The egg is yellow when its the correct temperature, then turns blue when it's too cold, or red when it's too hot.
This is good because it means you can instantly see if the temperature is ok just by poking your head around the door.
I think the egg shaped design of the thermometer looks good, & is quite funky and original, its lightweight too and doesn't take up a lot of space.
Also, another plus is that it makes a nice night light for the baby.
I got this 6 years ago and paid around £20, they are still about this price now, I think that price is quite reasonable for the re assurance it gives you, although there are cheaper room thermometers available I do like this one due to the look of it. Read the complete review |

Trunki Paddlepak Backpack
by azana
As with other Trunki products this bag is a combination of eye-catching design and some clever design features. We own the killer whale model, as pictured above, but it's also available in a shark design in shades of light grey, at a slightly expensive rrp of £29.99, currently £20 on Amazon. It's an ideal swimming bag, given its shape ... and also that it is completely waterproof.
At 10 litres this rucksack is plenty big enough to take a child's bits and bobs for swimming, towel and all - it fits my slightly small 8 year old really well and is well made in a quality fabric. There is a smaller bag available in this series for the up to five age group; this is billed for being for 6+ which I think is about right. In use the opening to the bag is designed in such a way that it's wide when open, making it easy to get towel and costume in and out. It has to be said that the closing, which is patented and involves a three times fold down of the top, is a bit fiddly for a child but when closed it means that the buckle is discrete and that the bag looks like the mammal it is supposed to represent.
I particularly like the extra little features on this killer whale - who could fail to be be charmed by an integrated purse in the tail, with a secure zip, and the sticky out tongue and teeth? There are extra pockets on this item too; a hidden inner one ideal for keeping a wet costume separate from everything else as well as a mesh smaller outer pocket on the killer whale's side and a sunglasses clip on the front. There is also a hanging strap for putting on a peg, another useful feature. It has to be said that the Trunki logo is quite prominent on the bag - not an issue to me, and there are also some reflective bits on the bag, always a good safety feature for winter nights. The straps are really well padded and can be adjusted for a perfect fit. It's all very well made and designed, we've been using it regularly for a few months now and it's got no signs of wear at all.
Overall this is a great item, that my child really likes - it certainly makes her stand out in the changing rooms and would be ideal for beach trips too. This bag is a little on the expensive side it's true, but it's made the experience of going to swimming lessons a little easier and more fun for everyone, and it's a quality item. Recommended.

Angelcare AC401 Baby Movement and Sound Monitor
by emilyk
I cannot recommend this product enough.
We had no 'need' for it, we are just paranoid people but this left us, (first time parents) not panicking that our baby would stop breathing when we nipped to the loo or went to cook.
There are three parts: the parent unit, the baby unit and the sensor pad. The sensor pad connects to the ... baby unit and goes under the mattress. When no movement (breathing) is detected after 20 seconds an alarm rings. It starts slow and then gets more frequent and louder. Although we never had it go off for real, (just when I'd pick him out of the cot and forget to turn the baby unit off - oops) it was reassuring knowing that it definitely works.
You can change the sensitivity of the pad, we never did this though as it was advised to leave it as it was for the mattress we had, but it explains it all in the manual.
The sensor pad can be removed, so when your baby gets older and moves to the other end of the cot you don't have to worry about constant alarms!
The parent and the baby unit are both mains and batteries and the baby unit also has a night light on it.
There is also an alarm for when the room temperature drops too low or gets too high, the downside is that this is the same alarm tone as when there is no movement. We never used that. Read the complete review |
