Clippasafe Corner Cushions
by Whizz11
One of the items we decided to buy to baby proof our house were some plastic corners for our tables and around our fireplace. Our house is a new build and we have a gorgeous stone fireplace but the corners are so sharp and lethal that we needed to cover them up someway as taking the fireplace out was just not an option and its the stone ... bit that juts out so you cannot get a fireguard to go around this part too.
In principle these are a great idea because I have seen kids bump into corners of things all the time and really give themselves quite a bump on the side of the head or a cut on the eye so I knew this was something that I wanted to stop my own kids from doing. These clippsafe corner cushions are basically little plastic edges that fit over the corners of your tables and things like that and prevent bumps and bangs as they are rounded and quite a bit softer than the table itself.
The corners fit onto things quite well as they are bendy and so you can fit them onto your corners. They have little sticky pads too so you can stick these corners onto your furniture and the theory is that they will stay in place. However, that is my issue with these corners, they do not stay in place unfortunately. They are ok if you don't touch them but they are like a moth to a flame for my little boy, these are the first thing he will reach for and finds it really easy to remove them so it really defeats the purpose of having them there in the first place. When they have stayed in place and he has knocked into the table they do work quite well as he never seems to hurt himself but they didn't stay in place enough for me to keep them there so we have now removed them.
The nice thing is that the sticky pad did not do any damage to our proper wood table so that is good to know if you are able to leave them on there for quite a while. All in all a good idea in principle but they do not work as well as they should. Read the complete review |

Clippasafe Cupboard Locks
by sympatic
These can be a cheap and effective way to child proof the cupboards and draws in your home to make them difficult to open for ypung children however they do have their limiotations. For us we have found that one of the important things to remember is that they are there, my other half has broken a couple when he used too much force on a ... draw and the clip bent and was no longer effective, this has proven to be a very short term problem as it only happened twice but it also suggests that these clips will have a limited shelf life as your child develops strength.
Buying these I mainly wanted to secure a couple of cupboards that contain cleaning products and the draws that have matches or cutlery in them, also up in the bathroom there was a cupboard that needed securing. They are cheap to buy, a pack of six cost me £1.99 on Amazon. They are simple to attach to the cupboard, the hook part is screwed into the door and the lock goes into the frame, they are eaxy to screw in although the screws that are included are quite cheap so you have to be careful not to damage the screw head. When in place the cupbaord door will open a little bit but no further when the lock clicks in, to open you just press the hook in to release it from the lock and the door opens easily.
These are certainly an effective way of stopping young children from getting into cupboards however as I said before they do have their limitations and are only going to be effective until the point where your child is able to suss out how to get past them, by then hopefully they will be old enough to really understand the dangers of cleaning products, medical stuff is not such a problem for me as that is stored high up out of reach of even me without a chair to stand on.
There is an inconvenience factor with these wen you forget so there is an adjustment time to get used to them being there but they are easy to attach and offer a cheap solution to a potential problem. Read the complete review |

Clippasafe Plug Socket Covers
by karlsm93
When my daughter started crawling, we soon realised how low down and reachable some of our sockets were around the house, and we knew we needed to get them all covered up, as she definitely the investigative type! I had already been passed on some basic covers by my sister who didn't need them any longer, but we needed more to ensure ... every socket that wasn't in use was covered. So, with some money left on an amazon voucher, I picked up a couple of packs of these Clippasafe Socket Covers, which are currently retailing at just under £2 for a pack of 4, which is an average price.
These socket covers are different from the basic socket covers that I got from my sister. I was already familiar with the brand Clippasafe and was confident in the product before it arrived. The socket covers are quite an unusual shape in that they resemble a UFO, round with a raised dome. Underneath the dome area is a small hole that allows the adult to remove the cover by inserting the earth pin of the plug and pull it out. This is aimed at keeping little hands as safe as possible, because it would be impossible for a young child to be able to remove these sockets any other way, as once they are on, they are a tight fit.
When I realised that you had to insert the pin on the plug I actually thought this was a bit of drawback and if I was in a hurry, it would only slow me down having to get the earth pin of the plug into the cover, but it doesn't really. I use the basic socket my sister gave me on a plug that is used a lot like the one I put my hairdryer and straighteners into each morning, but I use these socket covers on plugs that I don't use as often but are probably the easiest for my daughter to reach.
I found these socket covers easy to insert into the plug and hard to get out, but obviously that really should be the point of socket covers and therefore, demonstrates to me that these are perfect for keeping little hands safe. I am happy with these product and would recommend them! Read the complete review |
