Boots Door Stopper
Advantages: easy to use, protects little fingers
When it comes to safety things for the house with a baby, my mum is super cautious!! At her house she hasn't got many interior doors so she decided she had to kit my house out with safety door stoppers! She came home from shopping one day and had found some Safety First Door Stoppers in a discount store for just a pound so of course she'd had to pick up a few packets!!
So, what is a door stopper? It is basically a chunky piece of shaped foam that fits on the side of your doors to stop them slamming shut. I would describe the shape as a sort of squashed U shape and is a bendy, almost rubber like foam that means you can bend it to fit on almost any type of door. My mum put them at the top of my interior doors so they were of course well out of reach of my daughter, which literally took seconds to put in place.
Once my little girl was at crawling stage, she did seem to have a tendency to push doors shut so I realised that once she was walking she would probably do the same or pull them shut (turns out I was right and she does like to pull them shut behind her - more than likely due to the fact that she thinks I won't know what she's up to!!!) In this sense I was glad that the stoppers were in place, as we all know how much it hurts when our fingers are trapped in a door!
Now that my little girl is well into the terrible two's, she has a real temper on her at times and slamming doors on me is a real speciality of hers so I am glad these are on because it has saved my poor fingers on several occasions. Also, we now have a kitten and when the temper kicks in and she goes to slam a door I am glad that there's no risk of her hurting the kitten either, even though most of the time Cleo is well out of there once the temper appears!!
Would I say that they have protected my daughters fingers? No, not particularly but that is only because we haven't had a situation in which there was a chance for her fingers to be trapped in the door, but I wouldn't like to have taken the risk in all honesty.
All in all I do think this is a great safety product to have and I would recommend it to all parents even though thankfully we haven't had much cause to have them.
Summary: 5 out of 5 stars! !
