Advantages: Cost. Easier to remove (if you know what you're doing). Neat. White.
Disadvantages: None.
Boots Plug Socket Covers - or other brands of socket covers - are an absolute necessity in a house where toddlers kind of think it's fun to embrace danger and aren't totally averse to the whole idea of giving them an electric shock by sticking anything and everything into the various sockets around the house. Obviously these covers cannot replace proper adult supervision, but it is an extra safety device that is designed to keep my little darlings free from shocks, no matter how much they want to investigate and probe their surroundings.
The Boots Plug Socket Covers came direct from my local Boots High Street store and they came in a pack of 12 which cost me £5.99 - which obviously equates to 50p per socket cover. I think this is very good value and while there are cheaper alternatives, Boots is a name I trust and so I went with it. They certainly don't look very exciting but I think the important thing is that they aren't particularly eye catching to young children and so they just blend into the background and don't encourage them to investigate further. They are just plain white and so do blend in to any white socket background, and they look neat and tidy and wouldn't attract attention for any of the wrong reasons.
What I like about these socket covers is that they are easier to remove compared to other socket covers, but only if you know what you're doing and so they aren't any easier for little people to remove. They are basically designed to allow removal of them with the plug that you're actually wanting to plug in - and then the socket cover can be removed with minimal fuss. It wouldn't really be possible for a toddler to work out how to do this and so this is an extra safety mechanism.
I think they work really well and I couldn't see any reason not to recommend them. They serve well in terms of their functionality, but they also make it easier for us to remove them quickly when we need to. I recommend them.
Summary: Recommended.
