As I have stated in past reviews, my mum is super safety conscious which I think is a result of her being a Nursery Nurse and then a Childminder for many many years so she has seen pretty much every accident in the home you can have!! My mum uses the cupboard under the sink for the usual cleaning products, but also keeps her medicine box in there and as my dad has a few medical problems (asbestosis being the main one) there is quite a large range of products in there that we obviously don't want my daughter getting anywhere near!

Due to this I decided to pick up some cupboard locks as I was really worried about her getting her hands on some pills or medicines and it was like the forbidden fruit to her after being told so many times that she wasn't to go near it - she did it all the more!!

I found a pack of the Clippasafe cupboard locks on Ebay for just 50 pence which was just a fantastic price so I snapped them up straight away, and the next day they arrived ready for me to put on the cupboard doors. The locks are simply small plastic catches which fit inside the cupboard door and this prevents the child being able to open the door. You need to screw the lock onto the door frame and the hook part is screwed onto the door itself. When the child tries to open the door, the hook catches onto the catch making it impossible for them to fully open the door. Of course it is easy for an adult to open the door as you simply push the hook in so it misses the catch!

I would say it took a matter of minutes to fit the locks onto the doors which is great as I am usually useless at anything that involves something needing to be screwed on! I am happy to say the locks have never failed and my daughter has never sussed out how to open the door which means she has never gotten hold of pills, medicine, bleaches and other such kitchen cleaning products.

I am not sure how long the locks will stay on the doors, maybe until a new kitchen is fitted as they aren't in the way and also aren't causing any hassle and while my daughter is still young (and even when she gets older) I feel much happier knowing that she can't get into the cupboard.

The usual price for a pack of clippasafe cupboard locks is around £1.99 and you will find six in a pack.

This is such a cheap, simple idea that really works and saves a lot of worry for us parents and I would personally recommend that all parents pick up a pack of these!
