Advantages: Cheap and easy to install
Disadvantages: Break if pull door hard enough
When my toddler found our cupboards and started emptying them everyday I thought it was time to get some cupboard locks. I found these in a supermarket for around £2 and there were six in there. Enough for the cupboards in my kitchen.
My partner put them on and they seemed easy enough a couple of screws and your done. He had fitted all six within 15 minutes which I thought was good going!
They work as when you open the door the lock catches and it only lets you open the door by two inches or so. You then have to stick a finger in to press the catch down and your door will open.
For the first few days they work well, although they were annoying for me every time I opened a door forgetting they were there. However my son soon learnt if he pulled hard enough the lock either broke or bent out of shape so that the door would open! Not the strongest locks in the world!
This has meant that out of six we only have two functional locks left working! So all in all it was a waste of money lucky enough it was only £2!
Summary: Not worth the hassle
