Clippasafe Cupboard Locks
Advantages: easy to fit, great price, keep the children out
We have never actually bothered with cupboard locks in my house as the children simply don't go in the kitchen by themselves however as I am currently registering to be a childminder I have to have all safety things in place and so cupboard locks are a must, we tried 2 different types from Clippasafe due to having single cupboards and double cupboards.
I bought the locks from Amazon and they cost £1.79 for a pack of 6 which I felt was a decent price as it works out at just less than 30p each, the locks were delivered within about 3 days so it didn't take too long before I was asking my husband to fit them!!
The locks came packaged in a plastic fronted packet which was attached to a piece of cardboard on the back, you of course are given the name of the company and the product and the information that there are 6 items inside.
The locks are petty easy to fit, they come in 2 pieces one is a small rectangle of white plastic with 2 holes in it for the screws an then a long piece of white plastic based onto the same type of little white plastic and have a little hook type of thing on the other end. You simply have to attach the hooked piece of plastic to the opening part of either the drawer or the cupboard and the smaller piece on the base of the cupboard or drawer.
Like i said I got my Husband to fir these however they were easy to do and I think I would have been fine fitting them myself, he attached the small piece first and then held the long piece in place and shut the drawer or cupboard to make sure the hook would catch properly and then once in place to make it eqasier he held it with a piece of masking tape whilst he screwed it into position.
The locks are brilliant and my youngest who is two and a half has no idea how to get into them, my eldest daughter who is five can sometimes manage to open them but not every time she tries. To open the locks you simply open the cupboard or the drawer as far as the lock will let you and then you simply tuck your hand inside and push to release the hook.
I would recommend these locks they are a great price and they are very easy to fit it literally took about 2 minutes on each lock to fit them and best of all I would say they are children safe probably to about the age of 4.
