Clippasafe Roller Blind
Advantages: Can be rolled up when not needed, great price
Disadvantages: Doesn't cover all of the window therefore letting in some light
I wrote in a previous review about how, when I was pregnant I used my amazon vouchers to pick up a few baby bits and pieces - one of which was this Clippasafe Roller Blind to shield a baby from bright sunlight in the car. I looked at several different car sunshades before deciding to opt for one that could be rolled up out of the way when it wasn't sunny, as opposed to one that was always covering the window of the car.
This particular sunshade from CLippasafe is designed so that you can roll it up when it isn't sunny or when not in use. Although this blind usually comes as a pack of two, I only bought the single blind, which at the time cost £2.99 on amazon, as I wanted to be sure I liked it, plus I only need one sunshade on the car, on the side our baby's car seat is on.
The roller blind measures 35cm x 48cm so is an average size blind. We have a ford focus, and this blind covers approximately two thirds of the window, which light still being able to get through at the side. On the reverse of the packaging, it states that this blind is to be used as a way of protecting yourself and/or your child from the 'sun's harmful rays'. The manufacturers claim that this blind is easy to fit to your window, and can be used in a car, boat or caravan.
There are two options when it comes to fitting the blind. YOu can either attach the top of the blind over the top of the window, and then wind it up or you can use the suction cups that come with the blind and attach it that way. We chose the latter, as we were concerned that jamming it at the top of the window, would mean that the car may be easier to break into, since you could lever the window open more easily. We found absolutely no problem in using the suction cups and so far there has been no issue in terms of the cups losing suction or us having to re attach them.
The best thing about this blind is that when it is not needed, you simply press a little button at the side of the top of the blind, and it will automatically roll up out of the way of the window. I like the fact that when it isn't sunny, it isn't blocking so much light getting in the car, as a blind that remains over the window may. AS our baby gets older, I also think it will be better that this blind can be rolled up so she can look out and around her, but still brought down when the sun comes out.
All in all, I am very glad that I purchased this blind. I think it is a great price for a very useful accessory for the car. Having the button to rewind the blind is very useful, and can then be rolled up when the weather isn't sunny or when you don't need it. My only negative would be the size, in that, there are still some parts of the window that aren't covered by this blind, and so when it is very sunny, light still gets in and can shine on my baby's face, however, this may fit some cars better than others, and it isn't enough of a problem to make me regret buying it, or ever getting another one, and so for the small price of £2.99, I think it is a great budget buy.
