Advantages: Nice music and nature sounds, parent remote,
Disadvantages: Uses batteries quite quickly
The Fisher Price Lullaby Soother Winnie The Pooh is a lovely cuddly toy for babies with the added feature of a colour changing night light. This pooh bear was given to my daughter as a gift for her first christmas and there was a time when she wouldn't go to sleep without this toy.
The toy basically consists of a cuddly pooh bear wearing a blue romper suit and lying down on a little white pillow with clouds sew onto it. The pillow is made of thin cotton and has a colour changing light box inside it. When you press the top of the pillow, the lights come on and shine through the pillow case and pooh bear starts to play lullaby music, nature sounds such as birds tweeting and he says various phrases such as "i'm so sleepy" and "night night". There is a switch on the light box which enables you to choose how long you want to music to play for before it switches itself off (5 mins, 15 mins and 25 mins) depending on how quickly you little one can get to sleep.
Pooh bear also comes with a handy parent remote control which enables you to turn it on and off without having to go right into your babies room and risk waking them. You can also use the remote to choose whether you want the music or just nature sounds to play. The remote control also has a little handle on top which can be hung over the door handle on your babies room so that you can find it easily when you need it.
Both the pooh bear and remote control both take 3 AA batteries each - We have never had to change the batteries in the remote control (over 18 months) but I found that pooh bear uses batteries up quite quickly and had to change them every 4-6 weeks.
When we first set the toy up I was a little concerned by how loud the music was and how bright the night light was. It seemed far too bright and loud for my little one to get to sleep. However, when we tried it out, our little one, who was 5 months old at the time just lay in her cot staring at it and eventually after about 5 minutes of watching it she drifted off to sleep. This toy quickly became a big part of her night time routine and we could just put it on the 5 minute setting and know that by the time the music had stopped, she would be fast asleep. She eventually worked out how to switch pooh bear on herself and we would often be woken up in the middle of the night to "I'm so sleepy"!
Unfortunately, my daughter who is now nearly two has decided that she doesn't like lullaby music anymore and gets upset everytime she presses the pillow so we have had to take it off of her, but I am definitely keeping hold of it to use with our next little baby.
Summary: A brilliant night time soother
