Once again my terrible two had me running around like a headless chicken when they got to the stage of opening the fridge and cupboards taking bottles of bleach out running around thinking it was funny. My girls are not always little monsters but them minutes they know i am not looking they run rings around me, after playing this game for a week i decided NO more.
A pack of two door latches cost £2.99 i need three packs one for every low cupboard in the kitchen. I got mine from b&q but have seen homebase do similar packets. They are easy to install but need tools as both parts need to be screwed onto the doors but within minutes' my dad had them fitted. The instructions are easy to read and follow even have pictures on them so even i could have fitted them but dad knows best. The door catches are made from strong plastic and latch together and join. I must say even i struggle with them sometimes. The door only opens and inch or so and stopped both girls getting in although Jess did have a good try.
Once installed and in use it gave me a peace of mind knowing they could not get into the dangerouse cleaning cupboard or pull boxes of cereal out all over the floor. However these latches are quite fiddly and i personally got annoyed with them but two years later they are still on and wont be removing them anytime soon.
I recommend the retracting cupboard latches, i finaly got the better of my terrible two :-) no more taking the mic out of mummy.
I heard about this after reading about them on dooyoo. I have had many problems with door especially kitchen doors and the medicine cabinet, with a young daughter you can so find the place turned into a pig style and all the contents of the cupboards on the floor. So after reading the op I decided that something needed to be done. I went into my local ‘B&Q’ to find an excellent range of door locks and cupboard latches ranging from expensive to very reasonable. Since I had read about Kiddiproof I decided to stick with them so I got some. They come in packs of two and cost just under a £5 which is tremendous value. They are extremely easy to apply-so easy that I installed them by myself. The best thing this that they work really well and you can be confident that even the bravest attempts from your child will not be able to open the latch. I would say the latch is suitable children aged between 2-8. But, since I have a young daughter they are perfect and thankfully I have had no problems. You use them for quite a lot of things kitchen units, cabinets around the house and loads more places. And they cause minimal disruption when fitting in so you won’t be left with big holes. I am really happy with my buy it has given me peace of mind as a mother and hopefully will keep my daughter safe. It’s difficult when you have kids to keep the house safe for them without restricting them to much. I have actually been back to my a couple more packs so I can fit them on. On a lighter note if you have children who try to find their presents then you can store the presents in a cupboard with the kiddiproof cupboard latch on. Overall I think they are well worth buying. Provides safety for my child and allows me to turn my back without worrying whether my daughter will go into the medicine unit.
Helps prevent access to cupboards.
