Advantages: Babies like mirrors

Disadvantages: Not very clear

This is an unbreakable plastic mirror in a cloth frame. The one I have is like the picture - a black and white and red frame. The one they sell now is more brightly coloured I think, but the same principle.

The cover has two white straps at the top with velcro on them so you can hang the mirror from the side of a cot.

It comes with a foam wedge (triangle-shape, like a toblerone). This also has velcro spots on it, so you can rest the mirror against the wedge and attach it using the straps. One side of the triangle is steeper than the other so you can vary the angle at which the mirror rests. This is so you can lie your baby on the floor next to the mirror and they can look at themselves.

I used to put this on the floor next to my babies when they were lying under their baby-gym and I was rushing around trying to get some housework done - they used to like to look at themselves, and perhaps felt that they weren't on their own because they could see another baby. Who knows, they liked it anyway.

It is well-made - mine was second-hand and I passed it on to someone else after my three had done with it, and it was still in good condition.

It is just a plastic mirror so not crystal-clear to look in.

You can take the mirror out of the frame, and machine-wash the wedge and the frame.

Summary: A nice toy for a small baby
