A satisfactory stairgate but it cannot cope with too much rough stuff.

Advantages: It does what it says on the can.
Disadvantages: The handle latch could be made stronger. Strips paint of walls if manhandled.
I am not going to write a lengthy review on this safety gate. Lazytowner has written a fabulous review of the gate, how to fit it and how successful it has been in her home. I feel that I could not better her input on this information. However, I do want to give another users experience of this product.
We have two Easy Fit Pressure Mounted Safety Gates, one at the top of the stairs and one across our living room doorway. Fitting the gates was easy, following the instructions supplied with the package. No drilling required, and no screws to fit into the wall (although it is possible to fit the gate more securely with a fitted wall mounting and this is the advised way to fit the gate at the top of a flight of stairs).
We used the gates successfully for about 8 months until my daughter caught the gate handle on the living room door with her jacket (no idea how she managed this particular feat) and broke part of the blue casing off. This dislodged a spring mechanism inside the handle, loosening it so that littlest HonestBob has since been able to open the gate as and when he feels inclined.
The second gate is attached between a stair banister and a wall, using the pressure method and not the permanent fitting. The gate fits securely enough, but it moves slightly forwards and backwards at the top when roughly handled (by teenage son more than littlest HonestBob). This has caused a circle of paint to dislodge from the wall and we will have to redecorate when the stairgate is no longer required.
My reason for not permanently fitting the gate on the stairs derives from an incident several years ago when I had another stairgate on the stairs and a member of the family required stretchering down by an ambulance crew. We were unable to remove the stairgate quick enough and the paramedic actually kicked the stairgate from the wall. I was grateful at the time as I just wanted my husband taken to hospital as quickly as possible, but it has made me reluctant to fit a stairgate permanently again if I can manage safely with a pressure fitting. Clearly any other users would need to consider their own domestic situation before deciding how to use a stairgate.
Summary: I would probably buy a different stairgate another time.
