When my daughter was born 4 years ago, we knew we would have to buy baby gates at some stage but we were happy to wait until she was old enough to crawl away at that super fast baby rate before we needed to invest in them.

When she did reach the crawling milestone at 5 months old, we invested in two of the Lindam Easy Fit Pressure Mounted Safety Gates; one for the kitchen and one for the living room. We only lived in a flat at this point so stairs were not an issue but I didn't want her to wander out of the living room and become overly investigative.

We found these baby gates really easy to fit. The two barely took 10 minutes to set up and attach to the door frames. All the fittings and instructions are in the box and there is no need to get your tool kits out for these ones due to them being pressure mounted. All you have to do is squeeze the ends in together, slide the gate in the gap and release the ends, which will then stretch out to fit in the gap, safely and securely. Done.

My daughter never managed to get past the baby gates when she was crawling nor when she started to walk though we did have to give her 10 out of 10 for her persistance with trying! She would sometimes grab hold of the gate and shake it to try and get out of the gap but never had much success. As she got older and we moved home to where the baby gates were secured at the top and bottom of the stairs she would voice her annoyance at not being able to get upstairs to see the cats and so she would be supervised upstairs but still under the safety of the gates.

My daughter is 4 now and we still have the baby gates in place at the top and bottom of the stairs and she accepts that she has to ask Mummy or Daddy to go upstairs. We have a very small landing and the bedrooms are on either side and the baby gate stops me worrying that if she awakes in the night, disorientated from sleep that she won't fall down the stairs. And it also pleases the cats because they can escape upstairs without worry of my daughter following them when they get bored of being around her!

All in all, these gates are great and by far the best on the market. They don't ruin your walls or paintwork or door frames when you put them in as there is no drilling which needs to be done. Also, the rubber ends do not mark the walls etc either. They are easy to install, easy to put in place and easy to remove again.

It is easy for parents to get in and out using these gates. The gate swings both ways when opening which is useful when you are at the top of the stairs etc. It is easy to open the gates one handed. I could always hold on to my daughter and shut the gate with ease. It clicks together when it is shut so that you know it has shut. There is an even more advance baby gate from Lindem now which I believe has an alarm should it not be closed securely.

These gates have been excellent value for money and no doubt in the next year will come down (maybe not the one at the top of the stairs though) but I will definately keep them. I don't think there is a better baby gate on the market at the moment.
