You may want to buy a couple of these if you have stairs in your home, so that you can fit one at the top and one at the bottom. This means that your toddler really cannot get access to the stairs at all and can save nasty tumbles.

We fitted the gates like this as we felt we wanted the extra piece of mind from having the gates fitted not only at the top of the stairs. Honestly toddlers seem to have amazing climbing abilities when it comes to getting up stairs when they shouldn't and we just didn't want to take the risk of our toddler making their way up the mountainous stairs like Sherpa Tenzing behind our backs.

The two stair gates were easy to fit on, not that I did that, I left it to the household diy expert, lol. But I thought it looked simple enough! The gates come ready made and you can just fit them in place with the simple screw in bits on each end of the top and bottom of the gate, there is no putting together of the product at all. That makes this a good product to buy to use for longer or regular visits to the grandparents, as the gates can be easily fitted or taken down in a short time.

The gate has a pressure pinch and lift opening mechanism, that is safe enough as its hard to get the hang of even for adults. It took a while for us to get the hang of that and visitors often needed a helping hand to get through the security gates. Whilst this may seem an inconvenience its also a kind of bonus, as if a visiting adult cannot quickly figure it out then neither can a young child.

We did find that we wanted to fit an extra gate across the door to the kitchen too, as we felt there were so many things that might be unsuitable for a toddler in the kitchen. We were lucky enough to be able to borrow a third gate from a friend, which was slightly different. In comparison to that we felt that the Lindam gates we bought were very good quality items and felt durable and nicely made.

We have had good use out of the gates and when we passed them on they were still in very good working order. One of the gates went on to be used as an anti dog entry gate, where it was used as an effective deterrent for a small but naughty fluffy terrier! One of our friends had gained the cute pup, who was intent on chewing his way throughout the home.He had become quite partial to the taste and texture of the wooden legs of our friends new dinner table and chair set in the kitchen. So the Lindam gate worked well for them too as it kept their puppy away from the kitchen.
