When Lauren was about 4 months old, Asda had their baby event on and the Lindam stair gates were on offer at two for £30, I thought this was a really good buy as they normally retail at around £22 each so I could not resist.

They are easily removed by un-screwing the pressure pads which was ideal as we used to regularly take these with us away in the caravan.

These are ideal, we live in a new house and really would not trust buying one of the ones which screw into the walls as they are only made of plasterboard. Not only that but you are then left with the dilemma of having to re-decorate!

Although Lauren was nowhere near crawling yet, we thought we better install them ready (then at least we could get used to using them).

Once closed, the gates are opened by squeezing together two bits at the top and then lift the handle, although it can seem a little tricky at first, we both soon picked this up and were able to do one handed which is just what we needed when we had Lauren in the other arm.

Do not be fooled into thinking that because they are pressure fitted, they are not as secure as the screw in gates, there has been plenty of times mid tantrum where Lauren has spent time rattling the gate as hard as she can and never one has it even come close to coming loose.

Lauren is now 4 and can easily make her way up and down stairs with out any assistance, I do still have the gate at the top of the stairs on, just in case she gets up in the middle on the night as her room is just at the top of the stairs.

Although we never had to fit this to a large opening, if need be you can purchase extensions in two sizes, 7 cm or 14 cm.

Would I buy again and recommend - definitely, but always shop around, I have found most places have these on a special offer at some point.
