Advantages: value for money, easy to fit, sturdy
Disadvantages: catch a bit awkward to open
Lindam has always had well-priced, no-frills (mostly) baby products, and whenever I had a chance to use them (in value-for-many preference to for example brands like Avent) I was happy with the results.
This gate does what it says on the box, provides a barrier for a crawler or a toddler so they don't invade dangerous or fragile spaces. The pressure fit means you don't have to drill holes to install which makes it semi-portable (though it's a big item so I would think twice about for example taking it on holiday) as well as easier to fit in plastic and metal door frames.
The catch takes a little while to get used to/work out, and I found it awkward to open one-handed, but I was an occasional user as we had one at a toddler group (being the bad mother I am, I didn't protect my younger child from stairs (we lived in a flat when the older one was at gate stage) and I suspect a home user would develop the required dexterity pretty quickly.
The gate is supposed to fit in openings between 75cm and 81cm, which means that some wider staircases might need an extension (available), or a bit of DIY with blocks.
It's solid, sturdy (thus quite heavy) and when well fitted should easily withstand any bashing that a toddler or a crawling baby would give it. I can't see why it couldn't be used for dogs either.
Summary: good safety gate
