Lindam Two Way Safety Gate
"Aww what a cute baby" .. Yes and then they grow up a little and begin to crawl, then walk, then fall down stairs, bang their heads, get into your cupboards, shoot out the front door. I need help QUICK !!
Ahh yes a safety gate! Whoever invented these is a genius!
As parents we all know that as soon as our little ones start moving about whether it be crawling or walking there are hazards everywhere. Now without locking them up completely, the only other way really to keep them from harm but let them have freedom to is by using safety gates in them naughty areas. We need to be able to move about freely without having to worry every second of the day that your child is going to come to some harm just by crawling or walking about.
Being on my own with twin boys I needed some form of safety for them. So I shopped around! I didn't do much research I just went with what I could afford really, and being Lindam, a brand I had heard of before and used, I figured with these gates I couldn't go wrong.
I purchased three in the end, but at the moment I use just two. I have one placed by the kitchen doorway and one at the top of my landing, but I did have one on my stairs too. Using the gates my mind was put at ease knowing that my boys could be left somewhere safely and not be able to get out and get into a muddle. They wouldn't be able to climb up the stairs or fall down them, therefore no stair accidents and bumps.
Now they really come in handy at bedtimes, as they have both broke their cots and are now in beds, so a bit more freedom for them to wander around the landing at bedtimes. The gate at the top of the stairs prevents them from falling down the stairs and hurting themselves, thank god! The gate downstairs I use now when somebody knocks my door to keep the boys safe in my one room whilst I answer the door. That way I know where they are, I can see them clearly from my front door and I don't have to run in both directions at the same time up my street to try grab them both as they can't run out of the house.
I am well impressed with these gates, not only have they prevented some nasty accidents from happening. They were a reasonable price being £21.99 each, and very easy to attach to the walls. But be warned they don't fit all doorways as I did find out trying to fit one onto my boys bedroom doorway. I was too lazy to check measurements before purchasing them from Argos, but it does clearly state the width of the gate in the Argos catalogue. There was no screwing into walls etc, it was a simple case of turning a wheel on each of the four corners of the gates, until all tight and secure against the wall. All you need to do then is take a quick run and launch yourself at it and if it doesn't move you know it's secure for your little one (lol).
They look quite smart too, being all white, with a sky blue locking mechanism on the top of the gate. Easy to open and lock with just one hand, for adults of course. Quite difficult for toddlers to work out how to open. All it takes is a quick squeeze of a button and a lift up of the handle and the gate opens, and just push the handle back down until it clicks then you know it's locked. Another bonus with this gate is the gate itself opens bothways, which means no faffing around when trying to get past it, I hate it when I have to open a gate, reverse backwards just to get around the gate and through it. It's too much fuss. These are simple!
So for just £21.99, you can keep your child safe and put your mind at ease! Can't go wrong really.. I definitely reccomend a safety gate, as it can come in handy for those difficult moments, bedtime routines, safety on the stairs etc.
