Whenever we take our daughter out with my mother in law in the car we will always have to use seat belt pillows rather than the neck pillow we purchased for our daughter. The seat belt pillows my mother in law had were awful so I decided seeing that she was so insistant on our daughter using them whilst in her car I would buy decent ones which actually looked comfortable rather then the ones she had which looked like little boards. I purchased the Mothercare Cosysnooze seat belt pillow from Mothercare. It was priced at £7.99 and I thought it looked of a really good quality seeing as it was fairly priced. It looked very padded and alot more comfy than the one my mother in law had. The seatbelt pillow can be used for if you child falls asleep and prevents the seatbelt making that horrible mark on their faces. It is even good for when your child is awake and the seatbelt rubs against their chin etc. The pillow which goes inside of the fabric which has the velcro on to go around the seatbelt is around 12 inches long and fits into a little gap in the fabric very easily. Once in place, you simply wrap the pillow around the seatbelt where your child's head would be if they fell asleep. The pillow is then held into place around the seatbelt with velcro. I did find that the velcro was very strong and that once the pillow was in place and I had it as tight as I felt it needed to be, it didn't move at all. I should add that the pillow is also machine washable and is just as easy to remove as it is to put it into place. The part which faces outwards towards your child is made up of two fabrics which are nylon and a velveteen type of material. The majority of the pillow is made up of the grey/black nylon material but the part where your child will rest their head is made up of the velvet like material which is lovely and soft to the touch and has never caused my daughter any irritation. I was very impressed with how padded this product was as once it was attached to the seatbelt there was no possible way to feel the seatbelt underneath. It really does feel like a nice and soft fluffy pillow. Even though we only use the seatbelt pillow when we are in the mother in law's car I have to say I was more than impressed with this product. It was a good price, it keeps my daughter comfortable as well as keeping her from getting a seat belt mark across her face. It is very well padded and is definately very comfortable. The only downside to the product is that it is only available in the grey/black colour which is a shame as I think it would be nice to have a variety of colours or characters to make it look like a bit of fun for children. The lack of variety sadly makes it lose a star from me.
As my girls are now on booster seats i was worried about the seat belt hurting or rubbing their neck especially when they fall asleep in the car as they usually do. As i was searching around for a seat belt cover or protector i came across the mothercare cosy snooze after reading about it i thought it would be worth a try and mothercare is a trusted brand. The mothercare cosy snooze cost £8.00 each i bought two one for each of my girls. A cosysnooze is a seat belt pillow. Cosysnooze comes with instructions that are easy to follow and read. It is very simple to fit it just clips onto the seat belt and gets wrapped around just like a normal seat belt protector and has velcro grips so it sticks. It takes only a few seconds to put on the seat belt. The cosysnooze is around 30 cm long. It is nicely padded and covered in valour so both heads will feel nice and snug resting against it. There was no colour choice when we bought them so we have plain black. When the cosysnooze is being used it has not slipped down the belt or moved. Both girls dribble and have made marks on the pillow but it simply goes in the washing machine and comes out nice and clean, has not faded in colour nor lost shape it is as good as new again. Hannah and Jess love the cosysnooze pillows and use them all the time even if they don't fall asleep they still rest there heads against it. I liked them so much i bought one for the passenger side of the car and i have been known to use it and fall asleep when my partner is driving. These really are fantastic. I would certainly buy them again should i need and i highly recommend the cosysnooze well done mothercare a fantastic product.
I bought this pillow for my son last year when he was 7. He always falls asleep in the car, as soon as the engine starts he is flat out and we were going on a trip abroad but driving so I knew that he would need something comfortable for the long car journeys. I found this in Mothercare and it was £7.99. It is a padded pillow that straps around the seat belt. The pillow is about 12 inches long and is inserted into a slit in the centre of the material. It fits into place easily and then the material gets wrapped around the belt and attached with velcro. The pillow can be removed for washing. The inside material -the bit that gets wrapped round the belt- is made from a nylon material, but the part where the child rests their head is a smooth velvety material. It's very soft and very comfortable. There is a lot of padding and you can't feel the seat belt underneath it at all. The pillow is very easy to use, it is easy to open out flat to remove the pillow and once the pillow is fastened round the belt it doesn't move or slip so you don't need to worry about it sliding down. The cosy snooze is plain black, it isn't very interesting for younger kids to look at but for my son it was perfect. At the end of the day he was only going to sleep on it! Even if your child doesn't sleep in the car the cosy snooze is still useful to have. I have bought an extra once for my 5 year old daughter who is now in a booster seat. The seat belt was quite uncomfortable under her chin but now we have applied this she is fine. I would definately recommend this as it makes car journeys a lot more comfortable.
INTRODUCTION When we switched from using a full infant car seat to a booster seat for our four year old daughter, one of the unexpected side effects was the loss of side support for her head when she fell asleep. We found she liked to flop forward against the seat belt, with her head unsupported and the belt itself chafing her uncomfortably around the throat area, and more often than not, waking her up. There is nothing quite like the peace and quiet you get when the kids are asleep, and parents with young children in particular, will fully appreciate the utility of the family car in conveying their precious cargo to the land of Nod. Conversely, there is nothing quite so grumpy or taciturn as a child prematurely roused from deep sleep, so to have our little one's blissful slumber rudely interrupted by her seat belt was annoying to say the least. We tried a number of pillows and blankets, but she was such a fidget pot, they invariably worked loose or were thrown off. THE "COSYSNOOZE" The solution presented itself on a trip to Mothercare where we happened across the "Cosysnooze" seat belt pillow. It is a tubular white pillow about a foot long, which is covered by a separate soft velvet-like dark grey nylon cover trimmed in black. The pillow fits loosely inside the cover, and the two flaps, each edged along their whole length with black Velcro, allow you to attach the pillow securely in place over the seat belt. The child can then fall asleep on it without chafing and no danger of dislodging it. In a sense, the pillow is "ageless" - even my wife has used it on occasion. The "build" quality is excellent, and accordingly, we would anticipate being able to use the pillow for a good few years yet. CARE The 100% Nylon cover is easily removable for machine washing (the label recommends 40°C, but we find the more economical 30°C setting equally effective for getting it clean) but it won't go in the tumble dryer and needs to be air dried. We have had it for over a year now and it has been washed several times already, keeping its colour and shape very well. The only minor niggle is that the cover could have been made a little more interesting for children, as the rather functional grey and black is not particularly inspiring. However, conversely it hides dirt and stains quite well. PRICE & AVAILABILITY We bought ours from our local Mothercare shop for £6.99. It can also be ordered from their web-site (http://www.mothercare.com - Product Code W1672-001) but the standard £4.95 delivery charge for all orders under £150 makes this a ridiculously expensive - and rather pointless - option. VERDICT This simple but effective pillow has now travelled with us up and down the country as well as abroad to Kefalonia and Cyprus and is now a tried, proven and invaluable accessory. It is very well put together, easy to fit and remove, and represents excellent value for money, and, as such, comes highly recommended. © Hishyeness 2009
