Padgett Animal Sunshades
Advantages: Block out a little sun
Disadvantages: Don't stay on the window, dont block out enough sun, design fades
When browsing the Amazon website, like I do more times than I care to admit, I spotted these sun shades for only £1.99 with free super saver delivery, they looked like a bargain so I snapped them up!
Once the package had arrived I noticed the box was quite small, especially since there are two sun shades in the pack. After opening I realised the shades were folded up quite small and as I took them out of the box, realised they just popped into shape. The two shades have a different design and different shape to them to represent the two different animals. The cat shade is mainly round in shape with two triangles at the top for the cat ears, the face of the cat is made from a white material on the shade. The bear shade has the same principle as the cat shade, being mainly round and with round panda bear ears and a white face design.
To stick them to the car windows you have to ensure that the windows are clean to start with then wet the sucker slightly and push the sucker against the window. This sounds easy right? Wrong. Once the sucker is on the window and the shade is in place, the slightest jolt will make the shade come attached and fall off the window. Even closing the door has been known to make the shade fall off. Once the door is closed and the shade is still in place it does seem to stay there for a little while. I've never had to drive somewhere far away so I don't know how it would fare on long journeys, but it's lasted a good 30 minutes before dropping off if my daughter hasn't pulled it on herself.
The white face designs on both sun shades has faded quite considerably over the two years we've been using these, for the first 18 months they were only used occasionally in my mums car but now I'm driving I use them a lot more. The white design has faded so much that it's hard to make out what the white design is actually meant to resemble.
The sun shades do the job they are meant to do and shade my daughter when sat in her car seat. I wouldn't say they block out the sun as good as other car sun shades, but they do block the sun to some degree. I would have preferred them to block out the sun a little better but as they block out a little sun and my daughter doesn't moan about the sun in her eyes etc. so these are fine for us.
I don't think I would recommend these. It is hard to get the shades to stick to the windows without them falling off 10 seconds later, the design fades after being in the car a while and they don't block out the sun as much as I would like, so only buy these as a last resort!
Summary: Don't buy these ones!
