My wife over the last few years and when our first two children were born has always said what a great idea and how handy it would be to be able to see the baby in the back in their car seat without having to turn around while driving or when stopped. In fact with a newborn as they have a rear facing car seat they are facing the back seat so you can't really see them anyway and are lucky to see the top of their head before you set off again. Well for the birth of our son who is now 5 months old and so will still be in this carseat for another 6 months, we decided to purchase this adjustable mirror for just under £5 which I think is great value for peace of mind.
The mirror itself attaches itself to the head rest of the seat where your baby is on. The beauty is that you can look in the driver mirror at the front and see what he's up to in the mirror at at the back that looks down on him. It's great to stop you worrying when you are driving to make sure he or she is not ill or in distress. There will no real need for this when he moves into a forward facing car seat but then for under a fiver it's still worth it I think for the year you get from the product.

The mirror is adjustable and has a number of different positions to give you the best angle. This is great as it's not just fixed into one position and rigid. It also seems quite sturdy and looks like it could last a fair while to be honest with you.
