This item I have used with two of my three children and will soon do so with a fourth.

~About~

The First Years Nature Sensations Lullaby Player is designed to comfort your baby and help them settle off to sleep whenever they wake, or go into their cot for a sleep. The player has four special nature sounds and a night light. The player is designed so that the buttons are hidden within a slide down panel, and face out of the cot. The night light faces into the cot and is dim.

~ Features~

The nature sounds consist of a heart beat, to resemble what the baby hears within the womb, the sound of heavy rain, waves crashing and a standard baby lullaby song. Each sound is meant to be one that your young baby finds soothing. Any repetitive continuous noise can be soothing to a new baby, perhaps why so many babies like the hoover!

It also features a night light, which stays on for a total of ten minutes. You can set the player to turn on when your baby cries, when you manually set it on, or set it to play for a total of ten minutes before it will cut off and stay off.

~ Personal Opinion ~

I first came by this wonderful player when I was at a car boot sale. The sliding panel was up, so I had no idea it was anything more than the night light the lady sold it as. It cost me 50p, a bargain considering its selling price is £19.99

I had just had my second baby and was keen to find something safe that i could attach to her cot and help her learn good sleep associations. The player was perfect, there was no way she could get into the buttons or battery, or pull it off the cot.

I tried out the different sounds and found my daughter responding best to the lullaby song. I found that i could set the night light and the lullaby to play for ten minutes before it would go off. I would put her down wide awake and do just that. I never had to go back up and turn it on again!

My son, ten months at present, still sleeps with his player. He prefers the sound of the rain and has been as easy a baby as my first two children. I found that i could clip the player onto just about anything. It wasn't unheard of for me to clip it onto the car seat, or travel cot, so that my babies were reassured even when away from home.

The night light is perfect in that it is very dim so is not bright enough to stimulate young babies and encourage them to stay awake. It's soft lighting really helped my children learn to settle themselves off from a very early age. By around 6 - 8 weeks, all my children slept through the night and I attribute some of that to this player and the comfort it brought them.
The one draw back that i found, was that the player went through batteries quite quick. It would be a good investment to buy rechargeable batteries for this unit.

The average price for this player is £19.99. It may seem a bit steep but my 50p second hand one has lasted me through two children and will do a fourth child in February. It is one of those must haves for babies. You can find the player at amazon online and eBay.
