I could never really see the point in buying a video monitor, as you wouldn't be able to see in the dark a baby's shallow breathing, but I really wanted a monitor with a sensor mat so I knew the baby was breathing ok. I found this one from the Tommee Tippee website just as they were discontinuing it for a newer model and paid around £50 for it, which was the cheapest I could find a sensor mat monitor for. It comes in a box with a portable unit that can run either from AAA batteries or plugged in to the mains. A main unit with a flap that turns the unit on and off and the sensor mat. The main unit also has a handy night light and a switch that allows you to ... Read the complete review

This has been one of the best purchases for us, and ours is now over a year old and still going strong. Due to personal reasons, we decided from the offset we needed more than just a one way monitor. I had seen this in the Asda baby event, came home and did some research on it, and when I went back it had been reduced to £20. Seemed silly not to at least try it. The sensor mat is very sensitive indeed - sometimes the green flicker light (the one that shows you movement) is activated even when there is no baby in the cot - for example when we would walk past the cot. My baby stopped breathing 3 times within 2 weeks when very young, and ... Read the complete review

This was the first thing we bought for our little one. After babysitting a young baby & not being able to hear if they were ok I knew we needed a sensor mat to stop me going crazy. We've used it for 14 months both in a Moses basket & cot. It worked fab in the Moses basket but its hard getting used to turning the alarm off before you take baby out so the alarm did go off after picking baby up but reassuring that it actually works! In the cot I was unsure it would work as well as the mat is small but I haven't been disappointed! We have had once false alarm when we tilted her mattress due to her having a cold - it is our fault really should ... Read the complete review

Having seen many warnings of the SIDS, this monitor was the first item on my shopping list for our upcoming arrival. I'm pleased to say, that when our baby arrived, it did not disappoint. We were initially met with a 'ticking' noise that we thought was permanent (signalling a movement from baby), we then found the volume control on the baby part (which controlled the tickers volume, not the sound of the baby!). This worked perfectly for a few months, giving a reassuring flashing green light to show that baby was moving. We did find that this monitor did not work very effectively when used in a travel cot, this caused the alarm to go off ... Read the complete review

i brought these monitors about 6 months ago and compared the ones that i had brought for my first child they were good. whilst my son was in his moses basket the monitor was fantastic if we took him out of his bed the alarm would sound to say that he had stopped moving which was a great peace of mind to us. the monitors are of average sound quality and you can clearly hear him crying but only really when he was screaming and not just mumuring and the monitor was really close to him. when we put him in his own room we had to keep the monitor on the floor next to his cot as we did not have any units. this decreased the sound dramatically although the monitor was ...
