Tomy Baby Link
Disadvantages: They make a loud, annoying noise
I bought these when I was pregnant with my twins, really I didn't need them as my mum and dads house is so small you can hear a pin drop upstairs if you're downstairs anyway. But these were my first and I wanted baby monitors as I 'thought' I would need them.
I didn't want fancy monitors, you know the ones you can get with screens on etc all I wanted were basic monitors which allowed me to hear my babies when I was elsewhere in the house and they were in bed. So I found these in Mothercare £17.99 I paid for them. Cheapest ones I could find some were £40 plus but they all do the same thing don't they? How wrong was I to think that!
I took them home and plugged them in to try them out, Bonus they didn't need batteries, they just plugged in to the mains, so I would plug one in in my bedroom where my boys would sleep and one downstairs. I had to test them, so I sent my brother upstairs to make some noise to see if I could hear him or not. On one there is a volume switch where you can just slide it across if you want to hear any noise loud and obviously the opposite way if you want it to be a little quieter. Shame it didn't stop the buzzing noise though when turning the volume down low! Once plugged in a little red light would show so you know they are on.
This noise though? It was just a continuous buzzing noise, a hum I suppose. Surely they are not supposed to do that. I only wanted to hear noise if it was my babies not a constant annoying buzz and whoosh just because it was plugged in. I thought maybe they were faulty so took them to Mothercare and complained. They opened their show box of Monitors and tried them in front of me to convince me they don't all do it as I said I wanted a refund rather than exchange. In fact this 'new' show box of Tomy Baby Link Monitors made exactly the same annoying buzzing noise. I know I bought the cheapest monitors in the store, but still for nearly £20 I still expected Monitors which only gave me the noise of my children I didn't ask or expect any added extras with them unless it stated on the box which it didn't.
I came to my senses anyway and decided I didn't actually need any baby monitors and had a full refund, but if I were to buy more I would of spent a bit more money to get decent monitors which done what they are meant to do. I don't reccomend these to anybody who is expecting a baby and looking for a monitor to hear their little ones, I would suggest spending extra to get better quality and something that works properly.
Summary: I dont reccomend these to anybody
