I think that baby monitors are a great idea. They give you such peace of mind when your baby first goes in their own room and you will be suprised just how much noise your baby does actually make!! We had a pub when my first was born so I was anxious about working downstairs whilst baby slept. My mum bought me Tomy Walk about as a gift and I never looked back. The pub could get roudy and the jukebox loud on a Saturday night but as soon as the baby even murmered I heard him. So did the regulars!. He was two floors up so that somes up the hearing range!. I still have it and use it for my latest arrival. We live in a house now so the range is excellent.
