Falling pregnant so young the whole baby world was completely alien to me and a lot of my buys were things I thought I needed, not what I actually did. Thankfully the Tomy Walkabout 3000 was not something I regretted buying. Bought from Toys R Us for around £40, yes it wasn't an all singing all dancing monitor but my auntie had used hers for all four of her children so I had complete faith in it. You plug the baby monitor in the room where baby is asleep or playing and then the parent monitor you can either plug in in the room you are in or put batteries into the back to take it outside say for instance if you are gardening whilst baby naps. As soon as baby ... Read the complete review

We bought this monitor for our second child (not being happy with the first one we had) Initially I felt it was a lot of money but that soon went as I realised just how great this monitor is. It has a night light and 2 different channels to use (good if close neighbours also use a tomy monitor), the "kids end" comes with a clip so you can make it portable (this unfortunately does not have a hole to stick the mains through) should baby be sleeping in its pram or playpen etc. The parent unit comes with a little walk about unit in the middle this is a great feature if you wish to go into the garden or walk around the house you dont need to worry about ... This is one of the most useful products we have got for our babies. We bought it for our first child and are still using it with our second. It just has to be in the same room as the baby and it will pick up anything louder than light breathing. The only drawbacks are that we have had it on for so long now that the batteries in the protable unit have completely drained and we need to get them replaced, but the range on this monitor is very adequate and we have used it all over a large house and garden with not too many reception problems. The moitor comes with two channels to help reduce the problem of interference and there are several other parents ... Read the complete review

We bought this baby monitor because the parent unit comes out of the charger holder and can be cliped to your belt. Very handy if you go in the back garden or in a room where you wouldn't be able to hear the monitor. A good feature it has is the night light. Our daughter seemed happier when we left a night light on, and used to always touch it before she went to sleep. The only draw back was the parent unit broke a couple of months ago, and we found out it was because we used to put it on the radiator. This must have damaged the mechanism inside. We have since had it replaced with a new one. It does warn you in the manual not to put on ... Read the complete review

The first baby purchase I made was a baby monitor! I bought it with my catalogue commission and it was so worth it! It is the one with a mains/ battery baby unit with a pram/crib clip...although you cannot use the clip with the mains plug in. It also has a mains/rechargable parent unit. A godsend for anyone that has a big house and can't be hauling the plug in from room to room. I can just put my son iin his cot and clip the unit to my belt and go about my business whereever in the house I am without having to check on him. I'm sure it has helped his bedtime/sleep routine because we are not constantly going into him with no reason. ... Read the complete review
