Advantages: Bargain price, quiet, easy to use.

Disadvantages: None.

Falling pregnant so young the whole baby world was completely alien to me and a lot of my buys were things I thought I needed, not what I actually did. Thankfully the Tomy Walkabout 3000 was not something I regretted buying. Bought from Toys R Us for around £40, yes it wasn't an all singing all dancing monitor but my auntie had used hers for all four of her children so I had complete faith in it.

You plug the baby monitor in the room where baby is asleep or playing and then the parent monitor you can either plug in in the room you are in or put batteries into the back to take it outside say for instance if you are gardening whilst baby naps. As soon as baby makes a noise it will come through to the parent monitor and also the lights along the top light up with every noise. There's volume control on the side and the monitor can be fully muted and you can watch for the lights if your baby wakes up.

It has two channels to choose from to avoid interference although mine stayed on A the whole time I used it. It was a very quiet monitor unlike the one my mother had which was very crackly.

Overall this product really does speak for itself and is a bargain and great for reassurance. We stopped using it when our son was 18 months old, purely because we bought him a night display which had a built in monitor. Unfortunately during our house move one of our monitors got lost so for the next baby we will be going for another Tomy model as I believe this model is no longer available.

Summary: The perfect parent accessory.
