Advantages: gives off a light glow onto the ceiling of woodland winnie the pooh images and plays soft music
Disadvantages: can go off through the night if your babys rolls around in cot and knocks against the side
My mum bought this for my son when he was around 2months old as he always seemed to be attracted to lights and generally anything which lit up or glowed so she though this would be a great buy and she was right. The idea of this toy is to help send babies off it a dreamland and effectively fall asleep but the first time we put it on my son stayed awake for ages to watch it then any time after that he was sleeping within a few minutes.
It can be set to play a short or long cycle and is also activated by voice or sounds which can be a good thing but on the other hand when my son was in his own room sleeping half way through the night if he rolled over and knocked against the side of the cot it would set it off and would tend to wake him up and we had to try and sneak in every night to switch it off to prevent this from happening. When turned on it plays the Winnie the pooh theme tune and woodland images slowly move across the front of the light which babies can watch or alternative they can watch the projected images which show up on there ceiling when the room is dark enough.
One thing I was worried about before we put the light on was that it might be too bright and keep my son up but it has a faint glow which is enough to see the images perfectly and is not to bright to keep babies up. The moonlight dream show comes with straps which can be used to attach it to a cot but we always left ours free standing on the floor as we felt the projection was bigger when on the floor as the closer it gets to the ceiling the smaller the images become. The batteries came with ours and last for a long time but then one night my husband and I got woke up with a funny sound which we did not no what it was then eventually we discovered it was the light and the batteries were just about empty in it and it started playing the winnie the pooh theme very slowly and it was creepy to say the least! We never have the light turned on any more as my son is 3 and goes to sleep no bother but we do still use it to keep his door open during the day as it is very sturdy and his door constantly closes over if it is not there. Overall a great light projection and soothing music to help ease babies off to sleep, would definitely recommend it.
