I bought this for my little boy around 18 months/2 years ago. At the time he was Peppa Pig mad, but the main reason for buying this was he didnt like to go to sleep without the light on in his room. Not the most practical thing to do keeping the light on all night, so I needed an alternative. I managed to pick this up for £9.00 in my local Home Bargains store and I knew I got it for a great price.
Juts to make a quick note in regards to the light i have. Its slightly different to the one in the picture. Firstly the design on the light is slighty different and it has the projector aspect to it ( both of which I will go into detail later on ).
Who/what is Peppa Pig?
Peppa pig is a long running and very popular award winning childrens cartoon series. Focusing on the adventures of the main character Peppa Pig and her family: Daddy and Mummy Pig plus baby brother George. All characters in the show are animals but lead lives just the same as people such as going to work, going to school, going on holiday, and each episode normally concentrates on an exercise or event e.g Mummy Pigs Birthday, Balloon Ride, Playgroup. The series is shown on Channel 5 and childrens channels Nick Jr/Nick Jr 2. This is one of those programmes that young children love, especially toddlers/preschoolers, as the characters are very interesting and fun to watch, the stories are simple yet quite funny and the programmes are short ( 5 mins roughly long ) so entertaining, snappy and quite fast pace.
What does this light look like and what does it do?
As mentioned previously, the model I have is slightly different to the picture and other reviews mentioned. It still comes in two bits: One is the base which plugs into an eletric socket to charge the light up and the other is the light itself, that slots into the base.
The base is a lilac colour and the main light is yellow and green mainly.Going right round the light is a picture of Peppa and her family enjoying a picnic. Theres a button at the bottom of the light that will turn it on and off. In the middle of the light theres a section where you slot in one of the two little slides, that show different pictures of Peppa and her family doing different things like washing the car, jumping in muddy puddles etc. At the top of the light is where the image comes out of and around the top its shaped like Peppas family car, which is very cute.
The base also has a slot in it that can house the spare slide when not in use.
When you want to use it as a projector, make sure the main light is placed in the base.Place the slide in the gap in the middle of the light then switch on.An image will appear on the celling.
If you want to use the light as a torch, just take it out of the base and turn on.
We have never used this just as a night light, but I would assume just to have this function, you would just take out the slide.
What do I think about this light?
I think this is a fantastic product and because its multi functional I really feel I get my moneys worth. My son found the projection ( and still does ) fun and very comforting as it gives his room a glow ( not a beaming light ) and makes it alot less dark. He also runs around using it as a torch. Now he has a Peppa Pig mad sister she loves this too. Considering this is nearly 2 years old and has been thrown around, played with by two children, its amazingly durable, the colours are very fresh and vibrant still and its in perfect working order.Only problem is we lost one of the slides......
Would buy again in a heartbeat.Great product, good design and brilliant price!
My youngest daughter has changed allegiance from Thomas the Tank engine to Peppa pig and of course all her Christmas gifts bore this in mind!
My daughter often creeps into our bedroom complaining she is afraid of the dark or it is too dark! I thought with this in mind that this night light would be perfect.
What is it?
The night light is printed with peppa and George and is purple and pink in colour it is a flattened cone shape this forms the torch and then when put into the base becomes the night light.
This prevents any concern over dark young children may experience , I also think the idea of this being dual purpose is excellent and indeed proved extremely useful when staying with family as my daughter could find her way to the toilet!
It is really easy to use and can be managed by a child indeed my three year old niece easy managed to turn it on and off.
I also like that this is rechargeable and so doesn't cost a fortune in batteries the initial charge took about 8 hours but since Christmas we have charged this once which I think is brilliant .
Cost and stockist
My sister purchased this from Argos at £12.99 currently it has a third off but normally is £19.99 from Argos www.argos.co.uk you can also get from Amazon for £19.97.
I think this is a very good night light and a must for all slightly nervous of the dark peppa fans!
I would not hesitate to recommend this light I personally think it is excellent and certainly stopped my daughter from complaining that it is too dark and so we get undisturbed sleep and as every parent knows that is priceless!
You can also get this nightlight in other characters as well.
A few weeks ago the nightlight in my youngest daughter's bedroom got broken, apparently no one did it it just fell apart! I thought that we might get away without a nightlight but after a couple of disturbed nights I went searching for a suitable replacement.
My daughter is two and as with most girls this age she is loopy over anything to do with Peppa Pig. I came across the Peppa Pig Go Glow light online and felt that this would be perfect. I used google to search for online stockists and found that the night light ranged from around £20 to £25 with some offers of free postage. As I couldn't be bothered to trek into town I chose a supplier I trusted and ordered the night light.
The Peppa Pig Go Glow light has a pink base and a cone shaped top part that fits into the base. There is also a charger supplied. The cone part has pictures of Peppa on it but is also pink to co-ordinate with the base. You can also get these glow lights that come with a slide show effect in the torch but this is a bit of a novelty that is soon forgotten.
To use the night light you must first charge it up using the charger and it is recommended that you do this for around eight hours. Once the light is fully charged it can be removed from the charger and placed anywhere in the room.
To use as a torch you simply remove the cone shaped piece and press a button on the side of it to switch the light on and press the button again to switch the light off. The battery will not last as long when used a torch and will have to be recharged more often.
To use as a nightlight first ensure the light is fully charged and then remove from the charger as before and then place the light onto its base and stand it wherever you need it. To switch the light on simply press the button on the side of the cone part and press again to switch off. The night light can be left on all night and will last two or three nights before it needs charging again. As the charge wears down the light will get dimmer but you can recharge before the battery is completely flat.
My son has had one of these lights for around six years and it is still in full working order so I imagine this one will last just as well and hopefully won't meet the same suspicious end as my daughters last light.
I would recommend these to anyone with young children for lots of reasons. Firstly they don't need to be left plugged in so are portable. Also the torch is not only handy for toilet trips in the dark but also for locating misplaced comforters without causing too much disturbance. My older children still use the torch to read by at night so apart from them not liking the characters anymore they last a long time.
When I bought my first one of these night lights I paid around £25 but prices vary and six years later this is still the sort of price they are selling for. As these last so well and are so versatile I think the price is justified and I wouldn't think twice to recommend them.
I bought this as a Christmas present for my 3 year old niece. I thought she would love this as she is peppa pig mad.
When the torch is sitting on the base the main part lights up. This works great as a nightlight, isn't too bright. To operate as a torch you simply remove the top part from the base. It's pretty lightweight so ideal for young children. The on/off switch is well located and easy for my niece to use.
My niece uses the torch a lot. Not only does she use this night but also during the day. She loves playing under blankets with her dolls and shining the torch. My niece has dropped the torch on a number of occasions but it's still working fine. It's clearly a well made, durable product.
Because its mains operated you need never to worry about batteries for this product. It just needs plugged in to charge and this seems to last quite well. I think this is a great product for toddlers since they may wake during the night and be a bit frightened in the dark.
She stays with me some weekends and brings this with her. I think she settles in bed better due to the fact she isn't in complete darkness.
This was a great purchase which has been used a great deal. My niece loves this item. Well worth the money.
My 1 year old daughter developed a fear of the dark at some point over the last 6 months and therefore we had to think of a way to help her become less scared. So upon trawling the internet for suitable night lights, ones that actually gave off some decent light anyway, this is the one we opted for.
I had actually considered buying one of these for my older daughter a while back just as a bedside lamp, because she likes to look at books before she goes to sleep, but because they all had TV characters on, and also the high price, I never bothered (RRP is £19.99 but you can get them on special offer sometimes, we paid about £15 for ours including delivery). So even though I wasn't keen on the price, I found through reading reviews that this Go Glow Night Light seemed to be the best choice for my youngest daughter's circumstances and I went and bought one.
When it arrived it came in quite a big box so I was surprised at how small and compact the whole set up is (the entire light stands just short of 18cm, and the torch part is about 16cm in length). I also presumed it had to be plugged into the mains at all times, but it does not, it is actually a 'rechargeable night light and torch'. When you first set the light up you have to charge it for 8 hours before use (to prolong battery life), and then it works as a standalone light and you only plug it back in again when the battery has gone flat.
As you can see from the picture it has a circular base, and the torch part is the cone shaped section and this just lifts off the base. The torch does not fit snugly in the base, it kind of wobbles about, and this confirmed to me that the quality of the toy is not perfect!
The light/torch is turned on by a small press button on the torch part, and when the torch is sat in the base then the entire night light gives off a nice glow, and then if you lift the torch off the base the light is automatically switched to torch mode. The torch is pretty bright and my daughter loves this part of it, and it's great that she can lift it on and off herself and she can easily turn the light on and off if she wakes up in the night.
When the lamp is in night light mode, the white glow from the light is adequate enough to light the room up enough for you to be able to see things, it is not like one of those plug-in night lights where you just get an orange orb and no light is emitted. This actually serves a purpose really well, and the characters on the lamp glow up really well, so perhaps this gives your child the impression that they have some friendly characters with them while they sleep!?!
My initial impressions of the light were that it was a small, tacky, over priced piece of tat, and I really felt I was just paying for Peppa Pig rather than the light itself. But after seeing that it has actually helped my daughter settle better on a night, and the fact that it does give off a good white glow, and that the torch part is very bright and can be used as a separate toy, I have changed my mind and I would recommend this to others (if you really need one anyway). After charging the light also lasts a good few nights too, although I always go up and turn it off as soon as my daughter falls asleep, so it's only on for less than an hour at a time.
But! I still think that they could have made it bigger, made the way the torch sits into the base a bit better, and maybe made some that didn't have Peppa Pig, or Night Garden, or Disney Princess, or Waybuloo, or Thomas the Tank Engine...you get the picture - why can't I find something which doesn't have all these annoying characters on????
Make your own choice, I did and I still ended up buying one.
And I've had to give it 4 stars because it does exactly what I wanted it to do, but I still hated the fact I had to spend all that money on it.
Available on Amazon and Ebay, prices vary (between £16 and £20)
I wanted o get my daughter a new lamp for her newly decorated room and ended up with this Pegga Pig Go Glow Light. My daughter has always been a fan of this kids programme so I knew she would be delighted with it. Its a bit pricey for a childrens lamp. I paid 20 euro for mine but it can be bought on Amazon for about 17 pounds.
It is a two in one light. It functions as a night light and the cone top can the be removed and used as a torch. The top part is a cone shape and the is where the bulb is held. It sits into the base then to create a dim night light.
As my daughter is only two she doesnt use the torch but I find the light is perfect at night time for her in the room as she sleeps. I had a night light plugged into the wall but wanted to get her something for the bedside and this was perfect.
It has a pink and blue theme and pictures of Pegga Pig surrounding the torch part and my daugher loves chatting away to the characters in the morning and saying goodnight at bedtime. Its a really cute girly addition to any little girls room. It is meant to be used by children from 12 months and over.
The light itself is very dim and suitable for young children. Its enough for you to be able to sneak into the room to check on them but not too bright that they wont sleep with it on. It is rechargeable so it doesnt connect to the mains but I liked this feature as you can put it where ever you need to in the room and its not just restricted to where your socket is. It includes a charger and I usually charge is every two days.
I would happily recommend this to any parent as its a nice alternative to the plug in night lights and will brighten up a childrens bedroom too.
Hannah and Jess both got the peppa pig go glow lights for christmas but it was in hannah that liked peppa pig but cant buy one without the other and guaranteed they would fight about it. Luckily these turned out to be a fantastic buy and they both love them.
The peppa pig go glow lights cost £15.00 from argos last christmas. These are basically a night light and torch built into one. The cone of the light sits on the circular base, the base is the charger. The go glow light comes with an adaptor that plugs into the socket and there is a small round hole on the back of the base that the pin socket on the power cable goes in. The charger does not need to be on all the time maybe a few hours or so now and then as it charges the night light and the charge lasts for a few days. The cone has peppa pig and george on it in there sleep wear very bright vibrant pictures, when you light the cone from the base you have a torch and when placed back on the base the cone lights up and its a night light. As the night light it has a dull glow but this is good for Hannah and Jess and it does not disturb there sleep nor when they are going to sleep. The torch on its own is a lot brighter but the girls rarely use them as the torches. The button to turn on the night light pushes in on the torch.
This is a fantastic product and both my girls love them as they are scared of the dark and having the night light on helps them to drift of to sleep and relaxes them and i do sneak in during the night and turn it of to save the charge hence the reason our charge lasts for so long i guess if we used them all night long it wouldn't.
I highly recommend the go glow lights and they come in a wide verity of characters to suit boys and girls.
My daughter loves Peppa Pig, and has an array of Peppa Pig toys and whatnot. For her birthday, a family member bought her the Pepper Pig Go Glow Light and I have to say it was one of the most useful, best presents she received! It's currently selling on Amazon for just under £20, and although that's not cheap, I think it's well worth the money in the long run.
The Go Glow Light is basically a very clever combination of a torch and a night light - the device as a whole is shaped a bit like a witch's hat, with the cone being the detachable torch part, and the base acting like a night light when the torch is attached.
The Go Glow Light is very nicely designed and in terms of looks, it's as girly and cute as you'd expect from a Peppa Pig product, with a picture of Peppa in her pyjamas ready for bed, and it goes very well with my daughter's Peppa Pig fleecy blanket.
The torch is a perfect size for a young child to hold, with the torch being only around 10cm long (it's not as big as in the photo!) The base of the night light is about 5cm deep, so overall this is not a huge item, though it's very cute.
When the torch is placed light down on the base, the light makes the base glow and so it's a very gentle night light, which has a subtle but definite glow to stop bedrooms at night from being too dark.
The torch is not powerful enough to floodlight any room (which is good in a child's torch) when used on it's own, but it's novel enough for a child to use.
The best thing about the entire device in my opinion is that the Go Glow Light doesn't need batteries to use! There is a plug in charger which is easy to use and just 20 minutes of charging will last the torch hours of use, either on it's own or when attached to the base to make the night light. I think this is great as it saves time and money having to change batteries all the time.
The Go Glow Light is a great multi-purpose toy/torch/night light, and I can fully recommend it. My daughter loves using the torch, and trying to make her brother jump with it when it's dark, and she has come to my room at night a few times using the torch to guide her if she is thirsty or doesn't feel well. The night light is good for her too as she is still not keen on pitch black rooms.
My sister LOVES Peppa Pig so it wasn't much of a surprise that she had shedloads of Peppa stuff for Xmas and her birthday, one of the things that DID surprise me though is how much she loves this Go Glow Light that my uncle brought for her.
It's a cross between a torch and a night light and has got a cute picture of peppa all ready for bed in her pyjamas. It's not as big as it looks in the picture and from top to bottom is only 15 1/2cm, that's about the size of one of them kiddies toches you can buy and the shape of it makes it easy for little children to hold in their hand.
It's clever actually because when the torch is on the base that's when it becomes a night light, then the glow is just the right brightness for kids to get to sleep with but as soon as you lift the torch up it is a lot brighter. That means it's good for children who are going to the toilet on their own in the middle of the night, my sister is still wearing nappies at bedtime because she's only just 3 but it has come in handy a couple of times when she had got herself out of bed to either come into me or go to our parents bedroom. Mind you my mum said she scared the crap out of her one night by shining the torch straight into my mums eyes while she was asleep! hahaha!
The Go Glow Light doesn't take batteries, I know.... I nearly fell over when I realised that as well, I mean WHAT toy doesn't take 6 batteries these days??? Well, this one doesn't! It only takes about 20 mins to charge and it's possibly to give it a quick charge as well if you know your child will be going to sleep quickly and won't need the light all night.
I deffo recommend the Go Glow Light, it comes in other designs as well as Peppa Pig so if your child is past this stage you should find one in the range to suit their tastes. I think it's brilliant though, the night light isn't that bright that it's going to keep kids away at night but when you take the torch off the base you'll find it's plenty bright enough for showing the way to the toilet or even just for faffing around with.
My sister plays with hers sometimes in the day and because it's light then she doesn't even notice when the charge has run out!!! She's dropped it a few times but there isn't any damage to the torch or night light, one thing I do recommend is that you put it on a shelf and not next to the childs bed because otherwise they will be up all night playing with the night light and torch when really you want them to go to sleep!
My daughter went through a stage of being scared of the dark a few months ago after having a nightmare. She asked for a nightlight and off we went to buy one for her as we didn't want to keep leaving the landling light on so that there was light shining into her room.
We purchased the Peppa Pig Go Glow light from Argos and it was £19.99. It is deceptively small. I thought it would be bigger than it looked in the catalogue but it is quite small. I think it is around 15/16cm in height.
I was fully prepared to put some batteries in this nightlight and was dreading the amount if money that we were going to end up spending on batteries but it actually comes with a charger - no batteries needed! A major plus point. It needs charging for around 15-20 minutes each day so it doesn't even take long to charge.
It has a big picture of Peppa Pig on the actual body of the light and it says "Sweet Dreams". The base unit is pink which matches the rim of the light and the colour of Peppa Pig's nightdress.
Not only is it a nightlight, it is also a torch which my daughter loved. She regularly takes it out of the charging cradle to make hand shadows on the walls at bedtime before she goes to sleep. When it comes to bedtime, the light is very subtle - not at all bright like a lamp. It isn't bright enough to keep her awake at night but is bright enough for her to still see if she should wake up.
Definately a great buy and highly recommended.
I got this for £10.00 in a half price sale for my 2 year old daughter for Christmas. As a big fan of Peppa Pig I thought this was a winner. The light itself came in a box with a see through window on the front. I was a little disappointed at the size as I had ordered it online, I had expected it to be bigger than it's approximately 15cm height.
Christmas came and she was very excited to put the lamp in her room that night ready for her bedtime story. I was most impressed to discover it doesn't take batteries. I have lost count of the amount of times things run out of batteries in our house. I was also happy because it already had charge. It comes with a charger and just need popping on charge each day for about 15 minutes.
The light is subtle, I have it on the dressing table and at bedtime it is bright enough to read a story by. The real advantage is that as the night progresses the light gradually fades in brightness. This is great because the first couple of nights I tried turning it off and she moaned but I don't have to worry because by the time it fades it isn't bright enough to keep her awake.
The added extra is that it is also a battery less torch. It gets used as a toy throughout the day when playing in dens etc. I can also see it coming in really useful when she needs to get up in the night for the toilet, she'll be able to light her way. I cannot sleep with any of the normal light on in the house so this is great. It keeps her happy that she isn't alone in the dark because she has her favourite character for comfort and it keeps me happy because I don't need to keep the landing light on all night. A definite winner all round.
Initially I wouldn't have purchased this at full price, but now I have seen its advantages I wouldn't hesitate to pay this.
