A Delicious treat for you and your kids!

Chocolate spread is a must in our household. It is a quick and easy fix in the morning when you are late for school in addition to it satisfying my craving for chocolate from time to time. I usually buy Nutella because it's simply the best without any argument. However during our last visit to ASDA supermarket I found something new and my youngest son shown some interest in the product so I bought one just to try and see for myself. It has a 100% money back guarantee so basically I had nothing to lose if we didn't like it. What am I talking about? ASDA Chosen by you Chocolate and Caramel spread. The sound and the look of it was very tempting and the price was pretty good so I bought it instead of my usual brand for a change. === ASDA Chosen By You Chocolate and Caramel Spread === == The appearance, the smell and texture == I have never tried or seen a mixture like this before, I have seen the classic peanut butter and chocolate combination, white and dark chocolate spread but I have never seen or tried chocolate with caramel. I opened the jar to see a very appealing mixture of chocolate and caramel. The dark brown chocolate is merged with lighter shade of brownish caramel; the colour of the caramel is a lot similar to peanut butter. The smell is definitely stronger than the usual chocolate spread. I could smell the sweet caramel but not the chocolate, obviously the caramel smell overshadows the chocolate. The texture here was thick but creamy and quite smooth; I wish they included small pieces of fudge though; It would have made the whole thing taste better, it would have been sort of like the icing on the top of a very tasty cake. The mixture was stored in a clear glass jar showing the mouth-watering combination of caramel and chocolate swirls which I suppose was more than enough for me to give it a positive mark. == My opinion including the taste == It did look tasty and smelt lovely but what about the taste itself? I first tried it straight from the jar, surprisingly it wasn't sickly sweet. To be honest I expected the marriage of chocolate and caramel would result in an extremely sweet spread but no it was just right. As I mentioned before the smell of caramel was very strong, and so was the taste. The chocolate presence wasn't that powerful and the taste of chocolate was more milky than chocolaty but in the end it was delicious! It tasted even better on hot toast; the lovely chocolate / caramel spread combined together, melted quickly and spread easily on a hot slice of toast releasing that unforgettable sweet fudgy aroma. I love eating it this way and so do my boys, it was simply divine. It tastes equally good with toasted crumpets or pancakes and makes good snack spreading a little on a plain biscuit. Because it's thick and creamy but not too sugary, it can be used as a cake filling, I tried it and the results were perfect. The only disadvantage is that this unique spread is very addictive and I mean it VERY ADDICTIVE if that is actually a disadvantage. My boys can't stop eating it and I don't blame them I sometimes add the odd spoon into my coffee. Another thing to add that it is a bit calorific, as one levelled tablespoon (10g) has nearly 56 calories and after my experience one tablespoon is never enough. As for aftertaste, I can't say there is any bad aftertaste; it was very tasty, creamy and delicious. == Would I recommend it? == I would say yes, definitely. It's nice to have something new for a change but it won't replace Nutella I'm afraid. It tasted good hot and cold, makes a good cake filler, not sickly sweet and the little ones love it and may I say the grownups too, so I highly recommend it and will give it the full five stars for the taste. == Price and availability == ASADA Chosen By You Chocolate and caramel spread is available in ASDA supermarket and you can order it from online too. The price is only £1.18 for 400g jar which is a very good price. == Nutrition Facts == Per 10g serving Calories 56 Sodium 1 mg Total Fat 4 g Potassium 0 mg Saturated 1 g Total Carbs 6 g Polyunsaturated 0 g Dietary Fiber 0 g Monounsaturated 0 g Sugars 6 g Trans 0 g Protein 0 g Cholesterol 0mg == Allergy warning == Contains milk and may contain traces of nuts. == For you information == ASDA have also got a few other delicious flavours for you to try such as banoffee , strawberry and yogurt, dark chocolate and white chocolate which I found very tasty and I am pretty sure the kids will love them too.
