“ Brand: Asda / Type: Milk „
Quite often at work I sometimes feel like a little snack, I normally snack on a chocolate bar, how-ever I wanted something not so fattening and something that wasn't so sweet. I recently purchased some milk chocolate covered raisins from my local Asda store and picked these up at the same time. I thought that a small handful of these would help any sweet cravings I was having and I also thought that they would be a really tasty snack at work. I haven't really seen milk chocolate coated peanuts before and have only ever tried the M & M peanut sweets which are delicious. I thought for the price the milk chocolate peanuts were good value so I thought I may as well try them. If I didn't like them I'm sure my boyfriend would eat them anyway!
~ PRICE/AVALIABILITY ~
These were purchased from Asda and are Asda's own brand. The bag contains 200g of milk chocolate peanuts and they cost me 86p which I thought was really good value.
~ PACKAGING ~
The chocolate peanuts come in a purple and black theme hanger bag. On the front of the bag are light and dark purple stripes which go down. The top of the bag is black and states that they are from Asda. There is clear panel on the front of the bag and you can see the chocolate peanuts inside. Some of the peanuts look quite large, and they have a slight shine to them. On the front of the bag it also states that they are classic favourites and that the bag contains crunchy peanuts covered in smooth milk chocolate. On the back of the bag it gives you storage information, ingredients and nutritional information.
~ APPEARANCE/SMELL ~
When I opened the bag, there was a very slightly smell of milk chocolate. There was a tiny hint of the smell of peanuts; how-ever this wasn't too obvious as it smelt more of chocolate than anything else. The smell of the milk chocolate wasn't too strong or sweet. The nuts are all of a similar size, how-ever there are a few larger and smaller one's in the bag. The peanuts are totally covered in the milk chocolate and there's no sign of any peanut showing. The milk chocolate coating on the peanut has a slight shine to it, which tells me that the milk chocolate is very smooth. I personally don't think the peanuts don't smell very appetising, as there's very little smell to them even though they are covered in milk chocolate. The chocolate coated peanuts did how-ever look very appetising and I couldn't wait to try them.
~ TASTE TEST ~
As I put one of the peanuts into my mouth my teeth crunched through the peanut and it broke into 2 pieces. The chocolate was melting a little and was really creamy. As I chewed the peanut the taste of the chocolate mixed with the peanut and made it really tasty. Although there was a strong taste from biting the peanut in half there was also the lovely sweet taste of the chocolate which was creamy and smooth. The chocolate coating on the peanut isn't too thick, and it's just right to give the peanut a lovely taste. After eating a few I did stop as I found them quite filling and the chocolate seems sicklier when it's melted slightly. I did find the peanuts a little moreish but did resist eating too many as I didn't want to feel bloated or too sick from the chocolate.
~ OVERALL OPINION ~
The chocolate coated peanuts make a really yummy snack, especially when I'm at work and craving something sweet but not too fattening or high in sugar. The peanuts are nice and crunchy and the chocolate coating tastes lovely and sweet. For 86p I think the peanuts are really good value and are cheaper than other brands such as Cadbury peanuts which I have only ever seen in my local shop once. I would definitely buy these again when I finish this packet. I give this product 5 out of 5 stars as they taste great and are really good value.

I have a very sweet tooth, I love all kinds of chocolate and love to snack most of the day on sweets etc. I love sweets that I can just munch on to help me through the day until it is my meal time.
I bought these recently for only 68p for a 200g bag and I thought the price was really good. The bag size is good too. The peanuts come in a plastic bag of which can be recycled.
Inside the bag the peanuts are of different sizes, the largest being approximately the size of a pea. The smallest is half that size. The peanuts are covered in the milk chocolate which tastes really nice. The nuts are quite tasty too with a lot of flavour. The combination of the nuts and the covering of the chocolate make for a nice tasting sweet.
They are easy to eat and swallow. They can be easily chewed too. They are very addictive because they have a really nice taste and the chocolate is not sickly for a cheaper brand. They taste delicious. For the cheap price I think they are very good value for money and excellent quality. I find the chocolate is not too sweet. The peanuts feel nice in the mouth with the coating of the chocolate. The chocolate is quite a thick layer of chocolate and not just a thin coating as some other brands, these have enough coating over the nuts. They satisfy my appetite until I need to eat a main meal.
These contain no artificial flavours or colours.
For 100g they contain the following, 509 calories and 28.9g of fat.
The best before date is very good with this product and the one I bought had a best before date until January 2012 and so it can be bought and kept in a cupboard for a very long time.
They are best stored in a cool dry place if they are not to be eaten immediately after purchasing them so they do not melt. I find they do not melt in my hands while I am eating them as I have often found with some other brands of these kind of nuts.
The amount in the bag is enough to share with family and friends. There is enough in the bag for a nice decent snack and I highly do recommend these for anyone looking for a cheaper brand of chocolate peanuts. They are well worth the price and I will buy them again as I love them so much.
I rate them 5 stars.
We like sweets and Chocolate in our house and often stop past the small bags of Asda sweets and take advantage of the 3 for £1 on the small 100g bags. We usually stick to the same ones but sometimes try other ones just to see what they are like. Sometimes this isn't a great move, but it's worth a try.
I think these cost 35p per bag so you aren't saving that much buy buying the 3 of them. The peanut ones are 200g though, so perhaps a pretty good buy.
The bag doesn't look that eye catching. Just a boring brown coloured bag with a picture on the front of lots of little Chocolate Covered peanuts.
You get a fair amount in the bag, and although they are tiny, they all contain a whole nut with a good enough coating of Chocolate over it. The Chocolate doesn't taste that expensive, but that's ok. It isn't overly Milky, but it is nice being that bit plainer with the roasted nut inside.
These were nice enough. A few of the nuts had that thin layer of papery coating on it - you know the brown part, which i'm not too keen on, but overall they tasted nice enough. roasted and a bit salted with the sweet chocolate over it.
We will be buying these again. Makes a change to the jelly sweets we normally get.
Why do packets of nuts always have 'may contain traces of nuts' written on the ingredients? Strange. Anyway, these Asda chocolate coated peanuts are really delicious and are suitable for vegetarians (surprisingly, not all chocolate coated nuts are, especially swiss and belgian chocolate ones). These are also free from artificial colours and contain Soyabeans (which are really good for you if you are a veggie).
They cost around 67p for 200g packet but nearly every time I have been to Asda, these are always on offer (3 for 2 and such like), which is such a bonus if you have a big family or are having a party.
They taste absolutely delicious, but worse than salted nuts, these are incredibly addictive and be carefuly as it is so easy to scoff the whole bag before you know it (or maybe it's just me and my disgusting lack of will power)!
The only dispute I do have with them is that they aren't fair trade and they come in plastic (non recyclable) packaging. It would be perfect if they came in little cardboard packets like Poppets! But I won't complain too much as it is hard to find nice chocolate that is suitable for vegetarians and this definitely does pass the taste test.

I tried these over at friends the other day and found myself eating nearly the whole packet even though I didn't find them that nice. I think these chocolates are extremely Moorish once you get a taste for them and knowing how fattening peanuts are just on their own I dread to think what I consumed after eating most of the Asda's own chocolate peanuts.
I'm really not sure what makes these so addictive because the chocolate covering had practically no flavour and tasted very cheap also it didn't do anything to complement the strong flavour of the peanuts, which was sometimes so overpowering I think I just ate another to take the taste away, which is a vicious circle.
I have also noticed with these types of snacks that the chocolate is covered in some sort of coating which I assume stops them from melting all together in the pack but it also stop the chocolate melting in your mouth and having any real chocolaty flavour.
Whole peanuts covered in delicious milk chocolate.
