Disadvantages: the price
Vamp goes bad!
I know most of my reviews have been about Weight Watchers products and healthy eating, however sometimes I need a good chocolate fix. Personally there is nothing better and sure does make me feel exceedingly happy.
Cadbury Dairy Milk Bar of Plenty Berry Fruit and Vanilla Shortcake 140g bar:
Personally I don't think Cadbury's chocolate is the best on the market and I much prefer Lindor or Green and Blacks, but I saw strawberries and couldn't help myself.
I have been looking at this chocolate bar for weeks now when shopping and I keep thinking to myself no it's too many Weight Watcher points! Well today I said sod it and put a bar in with my shopping. I love fruits and adore vanilla shortcake so I couldn't wait to try this.
Opening the wrapper you're met with a sweet light strawberry sent with a yummy milk chocolate mix (I was in heaven) I broke some of the chocolate up into its squares and you could see within the chocolate the berries and shortcake mix.
My first bite:
Well not as I was expecting but very close! And each square has a slightly different taste, one square I had was full of the sweet berries and tasted of pure delights another square had more vanilla shortcake chucks and tasted more like a chocolate biscuit. Then you get to the square with both berries and shortcake in; and it continued like this throughout the whole pack. (Yes I got through the whole pack in one day!)
The chocolate was lovely and smooth with the berries and vanilla shortcake it set it off a treat it was so morish that I kept popping back to the fridge and grabbing another square until it had all gone! The berries within the milk chocolate were cranberries, strawberries and elderberries an extremely nice combination.
When eating the square with more vanilla shortcake as I said it was more like a chocolate biscuit with a nice sweet crumbly crunch. I couldn't really taste the elderberries but the strawberries and cranberries did stand out; when biting into squares with more fruit it was a tiny bit chewy.
Bar of Plenty Verities:
Cadbury's have brought the bar of plenty out in three flavours, Berry Fruit and Vanilla Shortcake (the one I'm reviewing) Toffee Apple and Roast Hazelnut and Honey Roast Cashew (which I plan to try next as my next treat).
Packaging:
Another thing that caught my attention was the pretty wrapper its quite plan, simple but effective. With the trademark Dairy Milk logo and jazzed up writing underneath. The main part of the wrapper being purple matching the standard Dairy Milk Bars; on the back of the wrapper it tells to about the others in the 'Bar of Plenty' range, and the normal information you would expect to see contact details, ingredients etc.
Nutritional Information:
With the good there comes the bad!
Per three squares:
90 Calories
9.4g of Sugars
4.6g of Fat
2.8g of Saturates
0.05 of Salt
(Worrying that I have eaten the whole bar within a day!)
Allergy Advice:
Contains: milk, wheat, soya and may contain nuts.
This chocolate bar is also suitable for vegetarians.
Price and Availability:
I've seen these bars in pretty much all the supermarkets Asda, Tesco's, Morrison's, Sainsbury's etc I purchased mine while on offer in Tesco's at just £1.00 for the bar. Normal price is round the £1.49 mark but does differ in each supermarket.
Overall:
I'm really happy I picked this bar up it tasted lovely, expensive when not on offer but as a treat now and then I don't mind the price. Huge fat contents but it was worth each mouth full! Just means I have to work extra hard for my weight in next week. I will definitely be buying this again I love the taste and texture overall remarkably happy with the delicious chocolate bar :o)
One negative I do have with the bar is that I don't think it will be a bar that will be here for years to come, as Cadbury's tend to have a newer product on the market then it slowly disappears. I'm guessing the price for what you get will put people off; it would be great if Cadbury did this as a smaller bar like the normal Dairy Milk with the lower price tag.
Four out of five stars from me
Thanks for reading :o)
