Cadbury Buttons Easter Egg
Advantages: The Easter egg tasted lovely and was well received by my baby grandaughter
Disadvantages: Far too much packaging
I talk about my grandaughters in my reviews quite a lot because they are so important to me but I don't think I have mentioned their baby sister yet who is nearly 1. She is a beautiful baby but I am biased. I brought her a Buttons Easter egg this year because I had brought the older girls an egg and I thought the baby should not miss out even though her mom tells me off when I give her chocolate.
A Buttons egg is perfect for small children and even for adults who do not like to eat too much chocolate. The one I brought cost me just £1. 99 and was just right for the baby who has taken over a week to work her way through it.
The egg comes in typically too much packaging for Easter eggs and is boxed AND held in place by a thick plastic mould. It is only a small egg though so doesn't have half of the packaging as a proper sized Kit Kat egg like my older grandaughter had, but this wasn't an environmental move by Cadburys it was simply because the egg is so much smaller.
When I got through all the plastic and cardboard I found the Buttons egg wrapped in shiny purple foil and this was very easy to remove from the egg. I broke the egg into little pieces and put them in a tupperware container for the baby to have a little bit every now and again. The egg was very easy to break into smaller pieces than usual so I think Cadburys have realised this small egg is perfect for babies and have made it easy to break.
I had to try some of the chocolate because I would not have been able to do my review otherwise and it is lovely. The chocolate that the egg is made out of is Cadburys Dairy Milk and it is a smooth and very sweet chocolate. It melts in my mouth and tastes lovely as good Easter egg chocolate should. As soon as I liberated the egg from its packaging I could smell a rich and very strong smell of chocolate and it tasted exactly the same as it smelled. The baby enjoyed it immensly but her bib was in a bit of a state afterwards, and so was her dress, and so was her cardi, and so were her tights. What a mess, it is a good job I had spare clothes at my house so I could throw her chocolate encrusted stuff straight into the washing machine.
Inside the egg was a small packet of Cadbury Buttons and they tasted exactly the same as the egg but were a little bit more exciting because of them being Buttons. Baby had a few of these but she prefered eating the pieces of egg so her big sister had them instead.
Summary: A nice chocolate egg for younger children
