Cadbury Creme Egg Easter Egg
Disadvantages: prices can vary
Easter is a pretty ridiculous holiday if you're an atheist. Thankfully commercialism has worked its magic and we can just use it as an excuse to enjoy a long weekend off work and gorge ourselves on chocolate and cakes. Cadburys celebrate Zombie Jesus Day by releasing limited edition chocolate products, of which Creme Eggs are everybody's favourite. Prices for Easter eggs fluctuate rapidly as the day approaches, and a few weeks before Easter these were available from my local supermarket at 99p each, which was then raised to £2.99 or you could take advantage of the new special offer and buy 2 for £5. Keep an eye out for the offers and grab one cheap while you can.
Packaging for this type of product is always very colourful and competing for attention with the other ranges available. Creme eggs are always my favourite at this time of year and I trust Cadburys to produce a high quality item, even though it's just a gimmick. The cardboard box is colourful and matches the creme egg foil wrapping. The large logo is eye-catching and it's very easy to find them on the shelf. Inside the box there is a plastic insert that contains your chocolatey goodness. Both the box and the plastic, along with the foil packaging can be recycled so do your bit and don't bin it.
For your money you are getting 2 creme eggs of the standard size, and a Dairy Milk chocolate easter egg. Creme eggs are pretty much unique to the market, and the combination of gorgeous Dairy Milk chocolate with sweet and sticky eggy fondant filling make this an irresistible treat for anyone with a sweet tooth. With the 'how do you eat yours?' campaign they have gained more popularity and are fun to eat. The larger Dairy Milk egg is a strong childhood memory, these were always the best and I love everything about them. They are quite large and hollow, and are made using the same Dairy Milk recipe that forms the regular bars. The sides of the egg have a cute spring themed design picturing a baby bird, and are utterly cute. It's a shame to eat it but that's the whole point after all. The chocolate is sweet and satisfying and the chocolates in this box work well together.
I've had these eggs each year as long as I can remember, and they're a yummy treat that I always look forward to. It's a great gift for kids and adults alike, or just buy one yourself and scoff away!
