Intro
Now every now and then something really extraordinary happens, well stupid actually but that's one cracking word extraordinary. I was in ASDA the other day and felt I needed cheering up after recent events, a crème egg popped into my mind and it was an almost certainty to be purchased.
Crème Easter Egg
As you will know Easter is round the corner and the shops have as usual begun selling Easter eggs very early. The normal sized eggs are currently retailing at £1, which isn't too bad considering. Anyway I spied a Crème Easter Egg for you guessed it £1. Now a crème egg retails at 50p or there abouts. So when I looked at the packaging of bright red and blue and saw that inside there was two crème eggs I was a little bamboozled.
Two times 50p = £1, check.....................so the egg is free, that can't be right can it. Two times 50p = £1, check........yep a free egg. The reasonable sized egg shaped chocolate egg is about 4-5 inches long and 3-4 inches wide and wrapped in purple Cadbury tinfoil. On removing this quite nice foil you are left with a delicious looking chocolate feast. There is a seam right round the middle lengthwise and a quick tap on something solid cause the egg to split into two halves.
Each half is quite thick at about 3-4mm I'd say; I was eating it before I even thought about the measurement. It is the usual smooth creamy sweet Cadbury chocolate (but for some reason and this is applicable to ALL Easter eggs) it tastes better in egg form. It breaks off in nice gob sized chunks and melts seductively on the tongue.
Once you have had your fill here you can now digress and get totally absorbed in the delight that is a crème egg. The 2 inch long 1'5 inch wide egg sized chocolate confection is oozing class as it sits and tempts me. It knows that I know that it knows it getting eaten. The soft sweet white and yellow fondant crème is just so wonderful there ain't a word to say how good it is. It looks like the inside of a real egg, but is the inside of an egg made in heaven. When the fondant and chocolate mix the sensation of smooth chocolate a sweet not quite as smooth fondant has me dancing.
Summary
I love Easter and the eggs; I love Easter and the chocolate, I love the free eggs that are apparently available, unless of course we are getting ripped of on the real price of a crème egg. For £1 this is a good buy for the kids for Easter, and similar such offers on other eggs are available too......................can it get much better than this.
Summary: totally delicious
