Cadbury Creme Egg Easter Egg
Advantages: Very Tasty, Good amount of chocolate for the price, very little packaging.
Disadvantages: Only available at easter.
With Easter just passing, I have got quite a few easter eggs that I am slowly eating my way through. The one I am currently on is this Crème Egg one by Cadburys. When bought it would cost you about £2 for the egg.
--- Packaging ---
The chocolate egg and the crème eggs come in a cardboard box that is 18.5cm x 8cm x 8cm in size. The entire box is brightly coloured in red and purple which makes it very eye catching and is also the same colours as those found on the smaller crème eggs. On the front there is a small oval hole that allows you to see the foil wrapped chocolate egg inside. The sides have various product information on and so does the rear.
The pack contains 1 large hollow chocolate egg and 2 regular sized crème eggs. Apart from the cardboard box, the only other wrapping used is the foil on the eggs, which makes the wrapping easily recyclable.
--- The Eggs ---
On opening the box, you can lift the large egg out straight away as there is no plastic wrapping supporting it. It feels very solid, but when you tap it you can hear that it is hollow. The egg is 12cm x 7cm at the widest, which seems to be the normal size for eggs similar in price to this one. Underneath the egg, there are two crème eggs on the bottom of the box.
The large hollow egg is wrapped in silver foil that has the word Cadbury written all over it. It looks very nice and attractive, but is also easy to open. On peeling back the foil, you are confronted with a chocolate egg that is already split into two halves. The egg has a lovely smell of chocolate and it is a nice brown colour, exactly the same as normal milk chocolate. The chocolate egg is about 3mm thick, which means that there is a good amount of chocolate in the egg.
As I put mine in the fridge, the chocolate was nice and hard which meant that it was easy to break without much mess. This gave it a firm bite to it when you put it in your mouth. The chocolate is very nice with a sweetness and slight bitterness to it, just like there regular Dairy Milk bar. On the whole the egg is very nice to eat and didn't last me long at all!
On unwrapping the foil of the crème egg, you are confronted with a milk chocolate egg that has a very basic pattern on it. As I put mine in the fridge before eating it, the chocolate was quite hard, however if you eat it straight after purchase, the chocolate won't be as hard. Once you have bitten through the chocolate outer, which is about 3mm thick, you are confronted with a lovely yummy centre that resembles a real eggs yolk. The centre is mainly a white fondant with an orange fondant in the centre. The eggs are about three quarters full, which means it doesn't spill everywhere when you initially bite into them.
The chocolate outer has the lovely milk chocolate taste that you would expect from Cadburys chocolate. The inner has a thick consistency that is quite creamy and sweet. I don't find that it has much flavour, but I really like the sweet and sticky nature of it.
--- Where to Buy? ---
Now that Easter has passed, it will be harder to get hold of these Easter Eggs as they are only sold over the Easter period. However if you try some of the larger supermarkets, they may have some on offer still.
--- Overall ---
For the price, this is quite good value for an Easter egg as you get a nice amount of chocolate egg and 2 full sized crème eggs. This makes for a very nice Easter egg overall for anyone of any age who likes crème eggs. I am going to give this 5/5 as the chocolate and the crème eggs can't be beaten on taste or quality!
Thank for reading.
