Disadvantages: Loads of sugar
Well it's that time of year again when the shelves fill up with all the Easter goodies, and one in particular I look forward too is Cadbury's Crème Egg. This smaller than egg sized confection comes in at around 45p but you can buy 3 packs for £1 if you shop around, so the value is there if you look for it. It is certainly not the largest confection you are liable to purchase but it may well be the sweetest.
Once removed from it's nicely decorated foil packaging the Crème Egg doesn't really look that impressive, being a brown egg shaped lump of chocolate with a little stripped pattern down its length. The narrowest end is the end where the chocolate is at it's thickest, and strangely the end where most people begin their taste sensation. Using your teeth instead of a spoon it is simply a matter of biting the top off as if you were topping an egg to dip your soldiers in. This time of course there are no soldiers so many of us use our tongue for this rather pleasant task.
On removing the top you will see a deliciously smelling white fondant crème which is mingled delicately with a similar fondant of yellow colour to give the overall impression of it being an egg. The chocolate has already sent your taste buds into overdrive so when the really sweet fondant hits your tongue it's Yabba Dabba Doo time for those little taste receptacles. The fondant is very sweet perhaps overly so, therefore one of these eggs is sufficient at any one time and supplies your body with enough sugar for days. This is not a criticism just a sweet toothed old guys observation.
I just love these eggs even although they are small they are absolutely perfect confection and 45p may sound extravagant for such a small delight, but for me it is definitely money well spent.
