“ Brand: Cadbury / Type: Egg „
Thank god all our Easter eggs are nearly gone, we always end up with a stupid amount and even though I'm an adult because I still live at home I get my aunts and uncles buying me an egg when they bring my sister's Easter pressies down. I'm not complaining though! lol
I've never been mad keen on Crunchies and that's why I've left this one until more or less last out of all of them and I only ate the egg and 1 small Crunchie bar and shared the rest of the bars out. Easter eggs come in all different shapes and sizes now and I've seen quite a few different Crunchie eggs. The one I've got is quite a big egg and inside the packet there are 4 smaller than average Crunchie bars.
The chocolate egg is delish, it's proper Cadburys chocolate and tastes sooooooo yummy! The egg is quite thick and my fave part was the bottom of the egg because the chocolate seemed madly thick there and letting it melt in my mouth took a lot longer. The chocolate is majorly creamy and sweet, it tastes a lot like Dairy Milk chocolate but you can tell when you're eating it that it's not quite. It melts lovely in your mouth and is a bit sickly after a bit, I ate less than half the Easter egg and then ended up feeling a bit pukey and that was a bit of a shocker because I can usually eat chocolate FOREVER before it makes me feel sick! lol
The Crunchie bars are just normal Crunchies only smaller. They're not mini sized but I reckon they're probably just over half the size of a Crunchie you'd buy in the shops. Crunchies will rot the words teeth, they are sooooooo sweet and sugary that even someone like me who LOVES sweet and sugary food will find them a bit too much after a bit. They're made with a strip of honey comb and that is covered in milk chocolate, I enjoyed the bar I had that come with the Easter egg but this isn't the sort of chocolate bar I'd buy for myself.
This Easter egg would have cost about £3.99 based on the size of it, I know it's a bit late for this Easter now but Crunchie eggs have been available for as long as I've been alive so consider this an archived review ready for next year! pmsl!
Recommended...... but there are nicer Easter eggs out there!!!
This egg is from Cadburys and you will receive one Cadburys hollow Easter egg and four mini sized Crunchie chocolate bars. I personally prefer the old format of getting two full sized chocolate bars but I guess they want to save money and cut costs wherever possible and as I only paid £1.00 for this egg I can't really complain about not getting my moneys worth!
The Egg is packaged in a cardboard box which has a plastic tray with indentations to hold the egg and the chocolate bars in place and stop them falling all around the box. I do wish that they would just get rid of this plastic and either reduce the box size or make something that is at least recyclable as I hate to throw all the plastic in to the bin every Easter, it's such a shame and I'd actually pay more for less packaging just to ease my guilt about the size of my rubbish bin this weekend.
The egg itself is hollow and comes wrapped in the instantly recognisable Cadburys chocolate. The egg is easy to break in two and if you have refrigerated it then you'll need to give it a good whack to get in to it but I think that's great and just adds to the fun of the Easter egg experience! The mini Crunchie bars are delicious and just as you'd expect. A chocolate bar with a honeycomb centre that just melts in the mouth and the chocolate is Cadburys which is delicious of course.
If you eat the whole thing in one day (quite likely if you're like me!) then it's just over 1,000 calories as each Crunchie bar is 80 calories and the egg is over 650!
I would definitely recommend this product, it was just £1.00 from Asda and will probably be available even cheaper after Easter so I'd recommend keeping your eyes peeled and stocking up, it's all chocolate after all and perfect when eaten fresh from the fridge or freezer.
I am rating this product 4/5, if it had less packaging I would have rated it 5/5 but this just adds to my bin and therefore takes up bin bag space!
Cadbury Crunchie Easter Egg 187g
This may be a bit early to review an Easter egg and unusually reviewed but it is my first chocolate review so bear with me and I hope you have a cracking read!! Easter is here next week and according to the retail food shops it has been here since December 26th when all Christmas stock disappears and is replaced by millions of Easter eggs of all shapes, sizes, and varieties. I have cheated and ate this egg before Easter is really here but amazingly cheapness of Easter eggs this year make it so easy to buy and replace especially if you are a chocoholic!! Now I love chocolate especially Cadburys and I also adore Cadbury Crunchies so putting the two together was a wonderful idea. There is something about Cadburys chocolate that makes it more superior to any other on the market (although I am partial to a galaxy bar)
**Outside the box **
Well for the Cadbury Crunchie 187g box it comes in a rectangular orange box with an oval shape to display the chocolate egg that awaits you inside the box. It also tells you the key information on the side-see below. An added bonus on is on the back you get 5 extreme facts and wished a happy Easter! You are also invited to join the Easter egg trial at www.eastereggtrail.com, where you can find out about your nearest hunt and when it takes place. Apparently they are working with the national Trust and Scottish National Trust on this to show that Cadbury is helping countryside sites for the future. So buy buying it I guess we are doing out little bit too! Also you can recycle the box so again showing that we and Cadburys can be environmentally friendly too!
**Inside the Box**
You get an Easter egg carefully packaged in plastic so it doesn't smash! It is also wrapped in the traditional Cadbury purple foil and you get 4 mini Crunchie bars. This has changed as they used to be two normal crunchies but you still get the same amount of Crunchie. However I am sure the eggs are getting smaller over the years.
**My opinion on the taste of the Egg Shell and Crunchies**
The milk chocolate egg when intact comes in two halves. This does make it easier to eat and break into compared to one whole hollow egg which I can never open without smashing into a thousand pieces. The chocolate has all the hallmarks of Cadbury's chocolate. The egg shell is of the same standard as Cadburys dairy milk bar and tastes delicious melting on the tongue. A down side is it is moresih to devour quickly but you can't eat both shells in one go as you would feel sickly. It is best kept in the fridge too as this helps it taste even better.
The crunchies come in 4 snack size bars which are of a nice treat size and better than the two traditional whole bars. The Cadbury Crunchie is a milk chocolate with a golden honey combed centre. Anyone who loves traditional cinder toffee will adore these. I am addicted to Cadbury Crunchie bars and again find them better if you keep them in the fridge. The Crunchie bar is coated in chocolate and I prefer to bite of the chocolate coating to leave the honeycomb centre to eat second.
**The bad News One calorific feast**
This is only the medium version and the egg and crunchies combined collectively they round up to near enough 1000 kcals!!! The Cadbury egg shell contains 315 kcals per half of the shell which is a lot of calories when you multiply by two. To be honest and I wish I read that key information guide before I devoured half an egg yesterday!! But the good news is now that the crunchies are mini sized and luckily there are only 80kcals in each bar. A big tip from me is not to try not to eat all 4 at once or that is 320kcals gobbled up.
**The Cost ££**
Well Cadburys Eggs are available in lots of shops from the local corner shop to the big supermarkets. With the sad demise of Woolworths Easter eggs are very cheap this year as supply outstrips demand and the eggs meant for Woolworths found deserving homes in other supermarkets and shops. Most shops offer 3for2 or 2for1 or half price deals. The eggs come in all sizes form small, medium to large to super duper sized. The egg I have bought ate and reviewed was of medium size. The medium egg at its cheapest costs £1 at the moment at Asda and Tesco but prices may vary on where you shop and promotion deals.
This is a cracking egg and Crunchie chocolate set. I adore Cadburys chocolate and was not let down by this Easter egg offering. The only downside is the shock of realising the calorific intake. Happy Easter all!
