Advantages: honeycomb and cadbury's chocolate together
I am quite a fan of Cadbury's chocolate as I love the smooth, creamy taste and I also enjoy the many different chocolate bars that they produce. One bar that I purchased recently was a Cadbury's crunchie which is a bar of honeycomb covered in Cadbury's milk chocolate.
My last purchase of crunchie bars was from Iceland where I managed to pick up a pack containing four crunchies for just £1.00 I thought this was great value at only £0.25 per bar as they can sell for around 60p each if purchased individually in some stores.
The crunchie bar comes wrapped in a foil packet which is gold in colour to represent the honeycomb inside. It has the Cadbury's logo on the front as well as the name 'crunchie' in large red writing across the bar. It also has the treatwise information bubble on the front stating that the bar contains 185 calories. On the back of the bar you can find all the necessary information that you need to know about the bar on including full nutritional information, ingredients listings, storage instructions and allergy advice. There is also the crunchie slogan printed on the side of the packet which I am sure most people will recognise, 'get that Friday feeling with crunchie.'
It is easy to open the bar by simply tearing the jiggered edge at the end of the foil packet. Inside you will find the bar which actually looks like a solid bar of milk chocolate with the honeycomb being neatly hidden in the smooth milk chocolate.
The crunchie is very firm and when you bite into it you get a lovely 'crunch' from the honeycomb breaking inside. When you take your first bite it reveals the golden, bubbly honeycomb which smells of gorgeous caramelised sweetness. I love the taste of honeycomb anyway but when it is covered in the delicious creamy Cadburys dairy milk it gives a wonderful combination of flavours and textures. The light crunchy honeycomb melts in your mouth and is complimented by the smooth chocolate. The bar also keeps its shape and it does not crumble into pieces so it is not a messy chocolate bar to eat as I expected it to be the first time I ate one. I think some people might find crunchies a little too sweet but I think the chocolate helps to take the edge of the sweetness and for me it is just perfect and I would certainly recommend them to anyone.
Also for anyone who enjoys cooking Nigella Lawson has a fantastic recipe for 'sweet and salty crunchy nut bars' which contain smashed up crunchie bars which are truly scrummy.
