I'm a huge fan (in both senses of the phrase) of Cadbury's Dairy Milk and when I discovered the Tasters variety of my favourite chocolate I thought that it would be just another way of enjoying Britain's best-loved bar. Well, to a degree, it is. The immediate difference is that it doesn't come in the familiar bar of square chunks. These Tasters are round, the size of slightly small Maltesers, but they're not just little balls of Dairy Milk. They don't have a hard shell but they do appear to be slightly denser than the normal Cadbury's chocolate in some way. The outside is shinier than bars of Cadbury's Dairy Milk too as if the product has been somehow treated to make it hold in the ball shape and stop it from melting in your hand.
Thankfully though they still have that same thick, rich taste that I love, like the best cup of hot chocolate that you've ever tasted condensed into a solid lump of deliciousness. Of course that doesn't make them the healthiest snack around: - there were eighteen sweets in my bag which the wrapper says amount to 235 calories. If you want healthy food I'd suggest that you look elsewhere. Anyone who buys this isn't after a healthy snack, they're looking for a great taste and these little treats certainly provide that.
They're really creamy, no doubt due to the famous glass and a half of milk that Cadbury's say they put into every bar. I don't know how much milk is in this little 45g bag but I do know one thing - these Tasters taste of 100% Dairy Milk, and that's good enough for me.
I used to buy these chocolates a lot but I haven't been able to find them in shops for ages. I saw them in the vending machine at work for 60p and although they were more expensive than the other chocolates available, I had to have them.
The packet is just over 45g in weight and I had 17 chocolates in mine. Each bag contains 240kcal, 3.4g of protein, 25.4g of carbohydrates and 13.7g of fat. At 56.4% carbohydrates and 30.5% fat, these are not the healthiest snack around but if you want something healthy, chances are that you won't be buying chocolate anyway. The chocolate contains milk as the name suggests and may also contain traces of Soya and nuts.
Each ball of chocolate is a bit smaller than a malteser and is made of pure Dairy Milk chocolate. They are shiny on the outside so they do look like they have a hard shell, They are just the right size for biting into. They seem to stay hard longer than normal chocolate bars so when you bite into the little balls of goodness, you get a satisfying crunch experience. This also means that the balls don't end up as a soggy mess in the bottom of the bag. The chocolate is thick and creamy and has a lovely taste. It really coats your mouth well while you are chewing it and leaves a lovely rich after taste. I find that you get just enough chocolates in the bag to enjoy without them becoming sickly. I could quite happily eat 2 bags of them in fact but then I do love chocolate.
If you fancy some chocolate and like Dairy Milk chocolate but don't feel like eating a whole bar, then I thoroughly recommend these Tasters. I have been introducing my friends at work to them and they all agree. These are one of my favourite treats at the moment.
