Cadbury's Chocolate Eclairs
Advantages: great for long journeys
Disadvantages: too chewy and big
I used to think elcairs were the best, I wonder why! I think 20 years or so ago there wasn't so much variety of temptingly good sweets and chocolates as there is now and maybe Cadbury chocolate eclairs stood out back then. Now however I feel it's a different story in my opinion!
What are they?
Cadbury's chocolate eclairs are a toffee sweet with chocolate in the centre. They are wrapped individually in a purple wrapper and usually come in a box or packet.
A 180g bag is approx £1.35 which is a reasonable price for a bag of sweets but compared to others perhaps reflects its popularity as there are others which are more expensive.
Firstly I feel that the sweet is too large, I don't know if they've always been this size and I've not thought about it or have they actually made them larger?! which is unusual these days as wagon wheels I KNOW are smaller!! The size makes a difference because once I've popped one in I spend about 20 minutes reducing the size and unable to make conversation with anyone, so I guess they're a good conversation stopper if you are bored with another person!! On journey's I guess it would keep the children quite for a while. Back to the sweet, it's a toffee sweet which can be sucked first and then get down to the melty chocolate or if I'm in a rush I start chewing it all as soon as I can but then it all gets stuck in my teeth and fillings which lately I've found annoying
If you keep them in the fridge they are really hard to eat and it takes a lot longer to eat! but then again if they're kept too warm they get to soft and sticky!
In my opinion I feel they've lost their interestingness (if there is such a word!) compared to other sweets which are around now. I still feel they are too large, a little smaller and they'd probably just be perfect for me. I had a box for my birthday recently and to be honest I've only had one or two and they are still on the side - I'm going to offer them round to friends!
I'd say they're great for long journeys or day trips but as a treat sweet in front of the telly it's a no from me.
Summary: Ok sweet but nothing to shout about
