Advantages: You get one of your five fruit portions!
Disadvantages: Never very good for you!
As you may have gathered I am a bit of a sweet fanatic, especially the chocolate variety. Of course first in line will always be good old Cadbury, hence this review!
The product I will now review is "Dairy milk, with cranberry and granola".
The first thing that attracted me to this product was the price, Asda are running an offer on the 200g bars, £1.00 each... sold!
Unusually for me, I didn't buy the normal dairy milk, with nothing added, instead opting for this one, I can only assume the reason for this is the fact the packaging is a nice colour!
The foil outer pack is quite distinctive in design, there is the obligatory dairy milk colours running through the centre of the pack, this being the original purple colour.
Down the sides of the pack there is a lovely almost paisley effect design using the "cranberries" part as the focal point of the pattern, this is done in two different shades of red, lovely!
The bar, (when unwrapped), looks just as a normal bar of dairy milk always looks. When the bar is broke up into the segments you start to notice the contents. There is an exceptionally high amount of cranberries in the bar, all sticking out of the segments of chocolate like little Christmas jewels.
I have to be honest, I have never been a fan of cranberries, but have always tried to find a product that would help me eat them, I know it sounds strange, but I like the idea of eating them, but the reality is not as good! I am the same with red wine, and again am left completely under whelmed!
There are the smaller but much more noticeable pieces of granola, more visible due to the lighter colour.
The taste is truly delicious! The granola adds texture along with a wonderful wheaty, crunchy taste, with the cranberries adding a slight sourness taking the edge of the creamy and sweet chocolate.
This chocolate is a complete revelation and has turned me from being a standard chocolate bar lover into a fruit and nutter, something I never thought I would become!
There is the perfect ratio of chocolate to granola, with there being granola pieces in every piece, there are however a whole load of cranberries, much more than I was expecting, this doesn't unbalance the bar in anyway, in fact it seems to make it more substantial, meaning you need less than with a bog standard bar!
Now the important part.... The nutritional information!
Per chunk -
25 kcal
0.3g protein
3.0g carbohydrate
2.8g of which sugars
1.3g fat
0.8g of which saturates
I have given you the information per chunk as when I normally eat these I don't have a set of scales to hand, so am never quite sure what 100g of this chocolate looks like!
There is also some allergy advice on the pack, this states that this particular bar contains milk, cereals and may contain nuts and soya.
