Advantages: Tasty, great for those with a sweet tooth
Disadvantages: Should only be eaten as a treat
Cadbury's Mini Rolls are a favourite (daily) treat of Mr Lools' so these are a constant feature in our snack cupboard as they form part of his packed lunch. Although we have these in the cupboards constantly I very rarely eat these, but did have a nice reminder of how great these cake rolls taste today when I had a sneaky Cadbury's Mini Roll with a cup of tea.
Cadbury's Mini Rolls come in a long purple plastic wrapper with white detailing. The colours used on the packaging is the same as a bar of Dairy Milk so it is instantly obvious this is a Cadbury's product, even more so that the Cadbury's logo is also visible on the outer packaging.
There are six mini rolls per pack, each of which is individually wrapped in a plastic wrapper so you can pop in a packed lunch box or bag and eat on the go.
Asda and Tesco sell a six pack of Cadbury's Mini Rolls for £1.25. I think this is a reasonable price to pay as these are made with branded Cadbury's chocolate and supermarkets own brand versions are sold at around £1.
***Cadbury's Mini Rolls***
Cadbury's mini rolls are mini cake bars essentially. These consist of chocolate flavoured sponge with a vanilla filling (very much like a mini chocolate and vanilla Swiss Roll) which is then covered completely in a thin coating of Cadbury's milk chocolate.
When you open the individually wrapped cake bar you are hit with the familiar appealing scent of Cadbury's milk chocolate which is sweet and creamy. When you initially bite into the mini roll the milk chocolate is the most predominant flavour which is a very smooth creamy chocolate taste but not overly sickly. The sponge cake inside the chocolate coating has a very subtle sweet chocolately taste and is just the right consistency moist but not at all soggy.
As you chew through the sponge you get a taste of the vanilla cream filling. This filling is very creamy and has quite a strong vanilla taste and adds to the creamy flavour the outer coating of Cadbury's chocolate gives to the cake bar.
Per Mini Roll
As with most "cakes" Cadbury's Mini Rolls should be eaten in moderation if you do not want to end up with your own "rolls" of fat!!
These are only small therefore not the most filling of sweet treats. Therefore if you are watching your weight but are after a more filling treat these might not be the cake bars for you.
If Mr Lool's reads this he will be pleased to hear his treats are safe as I probably would not eat these regularly as although these are sweet and chocolately so satisfy my sweet tooth, I find that as a treat Cadbury's Mini Rolls are slightly plain and boring and would rather treat myself with a more exciting cake or sweet treat. These are a great packed lunch treat as they are individually wrapped so conveniently fit into a packed lunch box, great for those that like sweet treats on the go.
