Cadbury's Wispa Gold
Disadvantages: Lots of Calories
I have to confess I am a bit of a secret chocaholic. The reason I say this is due to the fact that I have a seven year old son and I being the good parent that I am try to limit the amount of sugary treats that he has on a weekly basis. Hence for him Saturday is treat day only and throughout the week he gets only healthy snacks to eat. Well what can I say he is currently getting his adult teeth and having myself just spent £150 at the dentist for a double filling wish to instill good dental practices at a young age. Hence when I feel like a treat I have to either have them at work or wait until he goes to bed in the evening.
I was filling up in the garage recently and developed a chocolate craving. I was scanning the rather large selection of confectionery available when i noticed a new product that I hadn't tried before. Call me a magpie if you like I have always been attracted to shiny things and the packaging for this product is made entirely of gold foil. I picked up the item in question and discovered that it was called a Wispa Gold and being partial to the old style wispa I decided that I would give it a try. This product cost me 59p which I though was a reasonable price to pay as it looked quite substantial in size. In addition it was made by Cadbury always a firm favourite with myself.
This product as stated before is based on the old style wispa chocolate bar. The twist with this item is that it contains a layer of caramel. I couldn't wait to get back to the car so that I could devour my bar of chocolate. Opening up the product it did in fact look like a traditional wispa. Thick Cadburys chocolate which was smooth on the outside resembling a bullion bar. I bit into the product and noticed that it was textured chocolate. Not crumbly holding its shape really well. It tasted velvety and utterly delicious. This was when I became aware of the taste of the caramel centre and I have to say I was in chocolate heaven. The caramel was a decent thick layer and complimented the velvety chocolate extremely well. Exactly the same as you would find in a Cadburys caramel. This was a definite winner with myself and I hope that it will be around for a good while to come. The only downside that I found was that it became a little bit sickly as it really is sweet however hit the spot as far as a sugar rush was concerned. I will most definitely be having this again and would recommend it to all.
