Cadbury Twirl Bites
Advantages: Yummy Mini Twirls Bites, Lovely when cooled
Disadvantages: Astronomical sugar and calories per bag - make sure to share or ration
I bought these whilst on a business trip to Newcastle, and completely forgot about them, so they got a bit warm and melted in my luggage. It wasn't until I unpacked my suitcase that I remembered them - rather than eating the warm chocolate, I decided to pop them in the fridge and didn't come back to them for another few days, when I remembered them again. (I seem to have a short-term memory when it comes to chocolate!)
I have to say that having these chilled magnifies the taste one hundred percent. Cold chocolate tastes lovely anyway, but the flake-like centre of these mini Twirl Bites meant that the chocolate was brittle but not enough to hurt your teeth. Each bite was delicious and tasted just like a bag of crunched up Twirls, which is what they are, I guess.
The bag comes with a resealable label, in case you want to make them last over a few days, but I found they kept well in the fridge, so I didn't feel the need to reseal them. I would say there's about 1 and 1/2 servings in each bag, as I couldn't quite finish them in one sitting, so they would make an ideal choice for a couple to share, perhaps during a movie night.
The downside, as always, is the nutritional content and in this instance, a whole bag contains 44% of your Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of calories intake! So obviously, these bags really should be shared between a few people rather than pigged down by myself in one go! The sugar content is equally high with a whole bag containing 102.8% of your RDA - the information on the back only shows 1/4 amounts, as to avoid freaking people out with sugar percentages of over 100%!
So, whilst these are yummy and moreish, I also would suggest you ration them and only eat them in small portions and make use of that resealable label! Also, if you do decide to eat these, refrigerate them first as it'll make them taste all that more delicious!
Summary: A delicious treat, although can be too indulgent if you let it
