Advantages: Wonderful texture and taste
Disadvantages: High fat content
Twirl bars are a fairly new brand in the UK but had been in Ireland since the seventies, it reminds me a lot of a flake bar with a solid chocolate covering in a finger shape. The Twirl is two chocolate fingers in packaging.
Wrapped in a purple packaging with bright yellow wording, it has a metallic interior allowing the chocolate to stay fresh. It's a good sized pair of chocolate fingers and is easy to fit in a pocket of your coat. It weighs 43g and is incredibly light.
The bar costs 45p from most newsagents although we got a 5 pack from Tesco for £1.29. It is widely available everywhere from high street stores to garages and vending machines. Prices vary but 45-50p should be the average, anything more than that is a bit of a rip off.
A finger of Twirl contains 115 calories which isn't awful for a chocolate bar, it tastes awesome with a melting flake like middle and a cocoa chocolate covering. It has good bite to it and melts in the mouth and is one of the more subtle chocolate bars I've tasted.
The bar is fairly fatty with 13.2g in a pack of 43g so that makes it a limited pleasure but its one worth enjoying, something with a real velvety centre and a rich coating.
Summary: A crunchy velvety taste of pure pleasure
