      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Cheap and cheerfull, but delicious

After having lived in Sweden for a year I always go the Swedish food market in Ikea and stock up a few Swedish delicacies that I used to love. This chocolate isn't anything typically Swedish, I just spotted it near the till point one time and decided to give it a try. My main reason to try this was the very reasonable price, just 50 pence for a 100g bar.

This is certainly not your premium Belgian chocolate, but for the price I think that it is absolutely delicious. It has a 30% cocoa content, making it milk chocolate or 'choklad ljus' in Swedish. 'Ljus' actually means light. This chocolate has a smooth, rich and creamy chocolate taste, it isn't sickly at all, even after eating the whole bar, I have done this on more than one occasion!! I buy this chocolate all the time now, it is always in my fridge.
As well as just eating whole bars of this chocolate! I also use it in baking; in recipes, melted over the tops of cupcakes or on cookies etc. It works perfectly at a fraction of the price of other brands from the supermarket, and it tastes a million times better than the nasty cooking chocolate that you can buy.

In the same chocolate range, and for the same price, 50 pence per 100g bar, you can also get a dark chocolate version, and a milk chocolate version with hazelnuts.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Wouldn't recommend, even for the cheap price.

I visited ikea the other night after work, to get a few bits that I wanted, but I always have to have a look around there food store, as they have some interesting products, and they are all pretty cheap.

I got this chocolate as it was 39p for 100g, what a bargain I thought......until I ate it. I also got a bar of hazelnut chocolate for the same price which was really nice, but this one was really disappointing.

I can't remember the nutritional info, but with chocolate I don't really like to look anyway, it ruins the pleasure for me. It did say on the packet 30% cocoa though, I have no idea if that is good or not though.

The packaging of this chocolate was fairly plain, and it had a few different languages on there so no-one could mistake that it was milk chocolate.

The chocolate itself looked ok when I opened the packet and it had little blocks marked out on to make it easier to break up and share, or give away after you have tasted it! It looked a lovely light creamy brown colour and smelled quite nice too.

The taste of this chocolate was not great. It had a vague chocolate taste, but was not creamy at all, it was very sweet. It also became a strange texture when I bit into it, it didn't melt like you expect chocolate to it crumbled like a hard cheese and was not very pleasant. It had a strange oily texture after it had crumbled and melted a bit, and I found the whole experience quite strange.

Needless to say I wouldn't really recommend this chocolate. You definitely get what you pay for when it comes to this, and it's not worth wasting your 39p on it. A real disappointment.

      A DELICIOUS BAR OF CHOCOLATE.

On the weekend we visited Ikea. I love shopping in Ikea and we always take a few hours to trawl through the store. When We had finished shopping we decided to have a little browse through the ikea food stall. One of the things I purchased was Ikea brand milk chocolate. I had not bought or tasted this chocolate before. But at only 48p for a 100g bar I decided to give it a try.

When we had packed our goods into the car and set off for our journey home I opened the chocolate bar. The chocolate is packaged in a bronze coloured plastic wrapper. On the wrapper is the word milk chocolate. This is written in a variety of different languages. I quite liked this aspect of the packaging as it made the chocolate seem more exciting and continental.

There is no nutritional values written on the back of this packaging. Although there is quite a comprehensive list of ingredients. Also there is allergy information.

When opening the chocolate bar I was pleased when I opened the packaging. The chocolate looks very thick and has an excellent creamy colour. Also carved into each segment of chocolate is a star. This adds to the appeal of this delicious looking chocolate.

Each bar consists of 24 squares of chocolate. The chocolate is easy to break into individual pieces. The taste of the chocolate was very good. It is of a very high quality. The chocolate is very intense in flavour and very creamy in consistency. I love the way it melts deliciously in the mouth.

There is no bitter aftertaste with this chocolate. I find this very impressive considering the cost of the chocolate bar was so cheap. The price is certainly not reflected in the product as it tastes like quite expensive chocolate. The chocolate is made in Germany, I think this is evident when tasting the bar as the chocolate is very different in texture and taste to our british offerings.

I will certainly buy this chocolate bar again. I was very impressed with its cost and more importantly its delicious taste. I would think though that if you eat more than a few squares of this chocolate it could get very sickly. This is due to its intense chocolate flavour and creamy texture. However as a sharing bar it is ideal.

        Really Tasty chocolate bar!
As a 23 year old on a below average wage with a new house, Ikea as become my home from home, not only do they have great looking modern furinshings but hey the swedish are great with food too! Beyond the tills at the end of the store is a mini swedish supermarket, and one of my most favourite items is 100g this milk chocolate bar.

Forgive me if this is wrong but i'm quite certain the last time we were in there we paid between £0.49-£0.60 for this bar of chocolate. Which is an excellent price. We don't buy premium chocolate often and by that i mean cadbury/galaxy. After trying out a number of supermarkets own cheap and top end chocolate. Ikea as to be the best. It is much cheaper than any of the supermarkets own chocolate we have previously bought and much better. Its very fine chocolate, not too much to take. a small piece can quite easily melt away in your mouth. Easy to break away from the slab unlike the chunkier thick chocolate that just crumbles.

The packaging is a little bland, but represents the Ikea name very well, simple, easy.
So don't let the presentation of the chocolate put you off, this really is a cheap yummy buy!

also available dark chocolate and hazlenut 100g
