Dairyfine Milk Chocolate
Advantages: 30p for a top chocolaty taste
Disadvantages: A moment on the lips...
I alternate my shopping in my mortgage free mission between Asda, Farm foods and aldi / Lidl, in order to get the most for our grocery budget. As I had an asda delivery last week (I always book for our 1st day back after holidays) today it was Aldi day. So I gathered up my carrier bags from under the sink (as too tight to purchase theirs) and rounded up the troops and off we went.
I have a sweet tooth unfortunately and I have purchased Aldi chocolate before. Therefore it was no personal surprise that 2 of these landed in my trolley (one for dear husband).
It comes in a 100g package for an astonishing 30p. The packaging is very value style, plastic white with "everyday essentials" written on the top in blue, a description of the type of chocolate, in my case "milk chocolate" and a picture of said chocolate.
The nutritional advice is on the front, and it states it is suitable for vegetarians, and per 1/6 bar (approx. 17g) it contains 88 calories, 9.2g sugar, 5g fat, 3g sats, 0.05g salt. The back of the packet is more helpful as it gives the same information but for a 100g (the size of the packet) so no math required.
Ingredients are sugar, whole milk powder, cocoa butter, cocoa mass, skimmed milk powder, palm fat, whey powder, emulsifier, soya, lecithin, flavourings.
The packet also advises that it may contain traces of peanuts, nuts, gluten and egg.
This product has been made specifically for Aldi and the website is www.aldi.com
So what do I think...
Despite its price this chocolate really has a quality taste. I have tried many economy / own brand chocolates and this is by far the best I have come across. Its taste isn't the flavour of a cut price chocolate, in fact I would say better than a medium range brand. Its not quite the same melt in the mouth quality of Cadbury's but it genuinely isn't far off. I have no hesitation choosing this product. I can't quite believe its 30p cost as this represents exceptional value.
It could only be a 5 star rating for this little piece of chocolaty frugalness.
Summary: A value chocolate with a quality taste
